@klashta-neali made a great post about Aaravos and his extra shinies from the pilot episode that go missing when he’s in the mirror. I’d thought that Aaravos was barefoot in the flashback, but now that I look more closely, there aren’t any stars sparkling on his feet, like there are on his legs and his hands. I think those might just be bluish boots. Short, light boots, though. Not like the heavy ones he wears later.
I’d never really wondered about the significance of him wearing all that extra clothing in the mirror until now.
With the other elves, his purple skirt, lightweight overtunic, a purple accent drape, and these short, light boots:
In his mirror prison, a heavy black cloak, black leggings, and thick heavy boots:
Leggings, boots, and a cloak. Aaravos is cold.
Why would an elf who’s basically from space get cold inside a library, when he’s perfectly capable of running around half-naked outside?
Might not be literal cold, but maybe some separation from a source of energy or warmth for Star Touches? Like, reality itself, maybe. Or little particles of it.
If his prison is trapped between life and death--some kind of separate dimension, perhaps--he might not have access to space radiation stuff like neutrinos and quarks and gamma radiation and X-rays, things that naturally occur in his home environment, and which might keep him naturally warm.
Stars live a really, really long time. Even if Aaravos were cut off from a source of warmth, the stars on his skin are in no danger of going out anytime soon.
Ooh, yes. When Aaravos finally gets out of his mirror, the first thing he should do is chuck off that cloak, pull off his boots and tip his face up to the stars.

Watch The First Flight Of The Capsule That Could Take Us To Mars
After a bit of a hiatus from launching crew vehicles into space, NASA is finally getting back to doing what it does best.
Weather permitting, Orion, the new vehicle from the agency designed to take humans past low-Earth orbit, will lift off uncrewed from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station aboard a Delta IV Heavy rocket at 7:05 AM tomorrow morning (Eastern Time). Its path will take it 15 times farther than the International Space Station--beyond the protective magnetic shielding of the Van Allen radiation belts--where sensors will test its on-board shielding for the job of safeguarding human beings.
