Food service table, bread cooling rack, 4 days worth of used cornmeal, 8 bags of new cornmeal, tie wraps, label wrappers, food waste.

This piece was conceptualized out of the everyday annoyance I experience after a work shift. The accumulation of corn meal and breadcrumbs in my bra signaled to me the amount of effort I put into the day and stress I experienced to just fill the bread wall for customers. I aimed to represent the efforts of my crew and myself through the common supply, garbage, and leftovers we interact with on a daily basis. This was the result:

Found wooden fence, lace curtain, craved plaster imprints, dog scratches.

For this piece, I chose to represent a part of my childhood home that for me represents an urgency to escape, move on, or forget. I use the memory of our first family dog to do so. He was never in the best condition, kept outside and always ignored. He often ran away when he found a way, but always came back home to us. I often think about how much we as people can tolerate in respect to our families; and much the phrase "blood is thicker than water" replays in our heads when considering cutting ties. How much do we forgive and how much effort is too much? How much is too little? How do i make peace with the part of my life that has shaped me into who I am, for better or for worse?

Solid steel cross, car parts, rusty tools, rose petals, the body.

Imposed is a work created in response to the growing power and control Christian/Evangelical right wing politicians are obtaining within the last decade. The ideals of tradition, piety, and gender roles held by the religious right have been continuously enforced upon the United States, hitting especially hard on those that do not practice religious dogma. To me the overbearing load translates to what it feels like to be a woman in this climate. Force to submit to an ideology I do not agree with in a body I cant technically call mine.
