Everything goes dry when he’s gone. The world halts growing, and the leaves fall stale in the wind. He’s a torrential rainstorm though, and when he comes back it’s just as bad. The streets flood up and the little flowers drown. I keep telling him to leave me, to let me grow on my own, but I can’t be without him. And so he always comes back.
If you want to understand me, you have to be crazy enough— Crazy enough to fall in love just by looking into my eyes, crazy enough to go on late-night rides, crazy enough to dance when you can’t dance, crazy enough to sing without a voice, crazy enough to sacrifice your joy for someone else’s, crazy enough to think deep, to daydream, to do the same thing knowing it will hurt, to sit under the sky and question the universe, to cry when everyone is watching, to listen to your heart when your mind screams otherwise. Basically, you must be someone who sees beauty in everything that others call worthless, someone who is a spirit, not a programmed machine of religion, caste, culture, creed, or color. If not, don’t even try to claim you understand me.

I have always liked my people a bit damage. A bit difficult to stereotype. A bit stranger than the normal crowd. I liked people whose eyes tell story and whose smiles have fought through wars. If you're perfect, chances are, we aren't going to get on. If you're one of the cool kids, chances are, you won't like me. You see, what I want is authentic. What I want to see is your purity, I want to see you wear your scars, I want to see how brave you are with your vulnerability, how emotionally naked do you let the world see you. Your damage may not be beautiful, but it has made you exquisite. It makes you original, different - and one of my kind people because people like you are the most incredible things about this world.
“You are, and always have been, my dream.”
— The Notebook (2004)
I am a little too much, and he is a little too little. I am a thornbush, bristling from the over attention of my parents, and he is a man of a million little fatherly stab wounds, and my thorns fit perfectly into them.
