I told you I didn’t do anything. Yeah, but she threw herself at ya. Yeah. Because she thought she had a chance. Well, I didn’t make her think that.

It must have been really hard for Robert, for whom the past decade and a half of his life was shaped by a violent homophobic attack by his own father, to accept that he loved and wanted to marry another man and spend the rest of his life with him.

Each time someone says to him that his dad would be proud of him, my insides clench.
