so now the first shadow is breaking the 4th wall in their instagram posts too…interesting
Could they be more obvious?
Spoilers ahead
Hank died in a car accident, then was brought back. He kidnaps Paz, "a cop", and Renee Joyce, stuffs them in the trunk, gas them into unconsciuousness with exhaust fumes, and then sets them up to look like a murder suicide.
Yeah, I'm thinking about Lonnie's trunk, the hints that there was a car accident in the past, Billy kidnapping Heather and her parents and stuffing them in the trunk, Hopper almost blowing up the car with Joyce in it, Argyle suggesting that they can ride in the baggage compartment and Mike pointing out that they would suffocate
Interesting that Hank Williams (real name was Milton Hauser), who's basically Evil Hopper, has a son, not a daughter. Also, Jack's last name is Willard, and in the morgue they do an informal autopsy on his body. The connections to Will are obvious, so I'm thinking,
Hank's last name is Williams, to hint that there really was a car accident and something bad happened to Will, and Hop was involved -> his curse
maybe Hopper is Will's father
both things are true
The most likely is the first one, but we'll see
Anyway
Someone should take one for the team and livestream tales of 85 when its previewed at the theaters
Thinking about an alternate TF85 where Chance replaces Nikki (like no Nikki hate here but that should have been an established character since we don't see or hear about her any time after Slop From The Grease Vat and like... Chance graduates with the class of '89)
But more importantly, Season 4 TigerCali in that specific context.
Man. Chance being part of the Cali subplot would've been fire tbh. Mike tensions. Will and Chance maybe exploring their feelings and why exactly Chance decided to go so far to see Will on his birthday. (We KNOW why).
The painting isn't even of the party. It's Sombrero Tiger on a fucking Harley doing something badass (Because Chance makes Will feel like a total badass. Not just "like a real human boy™") and it isn't for Mike, but Mike being so self absorbed thinks it's for him.
Chance and Will finally realising what they want while El is trying to save Max. You can still have the shitty i love you if you want idc about mileven tbh. Though for my own selfish reasons that scene SHOULD have been an apology not an i love you
The concept of Jonathan actually approving of Chance because he can see that they both bring out the absolute best in each other. Maybe even playing cupid a little.
Jeez, what was the music budget for TF85? This soundtrack absolutely FUCKS so far, and I'm only on ep 2.
Quick thoughts on Tales from ‘85
So watched season 1 (yes season 1, 2 is confirmed as I’m writing this) and just going to share quick thoughts on it but not a full review or critique
This is the show that Stranger Things marketing and promotion would have you think the show is
As this spin-off is very much the kids' show, it focuses on the six kids and they handle most of the actual upside-down stuff
In promotion and marketing ever since season 1 you would think this is a show that primarily focuses on the kids given how much you would see the kid actors of the star Millie Bobby Brown plus Gaten, Caleb, Finn, and later Noah and Sadie
Then you watch the show and kids are still the heart I would say but they are like a third of the show, as the teens and the adults are the other two-thirds
So tales from 85 fills some of my (and I know a lot of fans) want to see the kids more especially as a group as they have been separated for most of the main show
With season 3 being one of those examples where we actually saw all 6 of them briefly so this is the time that season 2-3 time fits
So my actual thoughts on the show
It’s fine
I don’t think it’s bad I think it’s a solid show if you really like the characters specifically the kids
If you like Stranger Things because of the upside-down plot or the mystery sci-fi or 80s nostalgia then this doesn’t really fulfill that
Being between seasons 2&3 I think the characterization was pretty good for the kids to say some are better than others for sure but nothing I think is offensive
New characters are fine, I think they highlight an issue of people wanted more time with the main kids so adding new characters takes away from that but the plot of the show I can kinda see the argument for new characters to facilitate it even if I would say you could write around that like I think a lot of Nikki’s character didn't have to be elevated to a main character and could be like some of the other side kid characters like the bullies and Rosario
Plot is weird but given that this is made post the series ending they were in a tough spot so it's ok
Believability is at its lowest but kinda had to be to make sure the kids could actually remain the focus and not involve the other cast like the parents
Fun? I think it's fun but mainly if you think season 2 & 3 are fun as similar humor and dynamics there such as Max and Lucas pre-season 4, El being like the foreign exchange student etc
Should Stranger Things fans watch it? When they have time and want to fill their strange things itch, as I said it doesn't have all the elements that make Stranger Things the hit show it was but just want to see more of these six characters especially post-season 5 ending then yeah it's a fine casual show to watch
