The three finalists were selected from the initial list of Top Ten candidates by the 29-member Selection Committee and an additional round of online fan balloting to determine this year’s Hobey Baker winner. Criteria for the award includes: displaying outstanding skills in all phases of the game, strength of character on and off the ice, sportsmanship and scholastic achievements.
This year’s Hobey Baker Award winner will be announced Friday, April 12, 2019 from the KeyBank Rink at The Rinks at Harborcenter in Buffalo, NY, during the NCAA Frozen Four. The 39th annual announcement will be televised live on the NHL Network at 6 p.m. ET, and streamed at www.hobeybaker.com.

VEGAS (April 3, 2018) - Vegas Golden Knights General Manager George McPhee announced today, April 3, that the team has signed free agent defenseman Jimmy Schuldt to a one-year, entry level contract.
Schuldt, a Hobey Baker Award Finalist, recently finished his senior year with St. Cloud State University. He led all defensemen in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) with 35 points (10 G, 25 A) and helped lead the Huskies to a regular-season conference title and the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The Minnetonka, Minnesota native wrapped up his collegiate career as one of the most prolific players in SCSU history. He appeared in 156 games with the Huskies and recorded 118 points (38 G, 80), which ranks first among defensemen in school history. Schuldt was named a Hobey Baker Award Finalist during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons and was the only repeat Hobey Baker top ten finalist. He was also named the 2018-19 NCHC Player of the Year, earned the 2018-19 NCHC Defensive Defenseman Award, named to the 2018-19 All-NCHC First Team, earned the NCHS Scholar-Athlete Award and earned numerous other honors during collegiate career.
Schuldt, who attended the Golden Knights 2018 Development Camp in June, never missed a game in his collegiate career, playing in 156 consecutive games during his time at St. Cloud State University. He is expected to report to the Golden Knights and practice with the team during their morning skate on April 4 and will wear jersey No. 4.
NCHC First Team All-Star and Huskies second-leading scorer will report directly to the Kings.
The LA Kings have signed forward Blake Lizotte to a three-year entry-level contract, Kings Vice President and General Manager Rob Blake announced today.
The 21-year-old Lizotte (born on Dec. 13, 1997) is a 5-9, 175-pound native of Lindstrom, Minn., who appeared in 37 games this season with St. Cloud State University (NCAA), posting 42 points (14-28=42), a plus-28 rating and 28 penalty minutes.
He helped lead the Huskies to their second consecutive National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) regular-season championship and the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
He was named to the NCHC First All-Star Team. Lizotte ranked second on his team in points, tied for first in assists and fourth in goals.
Over the course of his two seasons in St. Cloud he tallied 69 points (22-47=69), a plus-44 rating and 48 penalty minutes in 76 games.
During the 2017-18 campaign he was named to the NCHC All-Rookie Team, NCHC All-Academic Team as well as being named the 2018 NCHC Scholar-Athlete. He was named Rookie of the Year by his teammates (Roland Vandell Award) and they also named him the Most Determined Player (William Radovich Award).
Lizotte will report directly to the Kings and is slated to wear No. 46. He would be the fourth King all-time to wear that number, and first since goaltender Daniel Taylor did so in 2009.
