Eggman became the parent of the frontiers and became softer, and some people were worried that he would no longer be a villain in the future. I think that I can reign as much as I want as the boss of , but I think it will be interesting to mix my father and my self-centered side. Then I thought, as Mr. Ian said before, the one side he showed in the frontiers story was just his human side. Does that mean he's the same as he who did cruel things to emmel and elise?

While yes, we get to see Eggman's softer side in frontiers, I don't think this means that the character is becoming softer, we're just seeing his human side, after all, he's not a mindless machine. He might be evil, but that doesn't mean that's his only personality trait.
In fact, this is not the first time we get to see his more "human" side, we also got a sneak peek in Sonic Adventure 2 when he talked about Gerald, his grandfather.
He's the same evil ol' Eggman we all know and love, he's still that horrible man that wants to conquer the world and turn everything and everyone into robots, we're just getting to see traits and sides of him that we hadn't seen before and I think that's amazing, I'm all for character development and exploring their personalities, behavior, mindset, etc.!
