The concept of magic for the masked. Does everyone have natural magic, but too weak to use, and the mask acts as an amplifier or the magic power is specifically tailored to the mask? (For Jay, but others can answer)

[ You are correct on your first point. Everyone has some natural magic and very few can use it. With training and practice, a natural person could tap into that, but only a little bit. For example, Marvin’s teleportation ability aided him in doing small magic tricks, but it was still faulty until he got masked. A doctor could tap into their healing ability if they had one and heal minor cuts with a simple touch. ]

[ The type of magic depends on the person’s personality and talents. If their mask does in any way match their magic, it is purely coincidental. Anti does not go after people of a certain magic type, he does not have that ability, nor does anyone in his army yet. ]

[ The modern society in which this story takes place does not know about the natural magic that everyone has. The only ones who have figured it out are some governments or private organizations who attempt to run experiments on those who have made it public that they have some sort of ‘magical ability.’ Whether or not these cases are true, they do not care. ]

So to keep it short, your style has this Disney (2D ness) feel to it however more linked towards the Pixar side to it (style overall). Your style has almost perfect anatomy and shading, with only your hands to work on (which is very fine, even though some are able to dabble, most don’t). Also, your art has intricate detail. So conclusion, almost perfect for a Tumblr artist (and overall artist) and if you could, I would always love to see a small Disney like animation from you one day.

Also I love details! Adding small little things that make a character design more interesting or the overall scene more complete is always fun to do. And adding little hidden messages or cryptic things like that is fun too >:3c

Hello Remote! just wanna ask what kind of rose do you think Snow’s signature white roses are? My friend told me she envisioned them very specifically as Winchester Cathedral roses for various reasons but I want to get an opinion from you since you seem like the kind of person to have thought about that. (Apologies if I missed like,,, a mention of the specific breed they are in any of your fics – which are lovely btw thank you so much you helped shape my understanding of Snow’s character a lot – or your posts) but yeah just wanted to get your opinion on that

Hello!! Yes, I have given this some thought!

In Donald Sutherland's "Letters from the Rose Garden", he references a type of rose called a Sterling Silver:

There's a rose named Sterling Silver that's lilac in colour with the most extraordinarily powerful fragrance — incredibly beautiful — I loved it in the seventies when it first appeared. They've made a lot of offshoots of it since then.

The Sterling Silver is far too purplish to be Snow's white roses, but I wanted to include this, and the reference to offshoots combined with Panem being set in the scifi future led me to gently invent a rose developed from this: a New Sterling, that appears to be white unless you look very closely. From my fic The Shivering Season:

‘It’s called a New Sterling,’ he says. ‘Come see. It isn’t actually white, you know.’ She joins him. Everywhere smells of roses, but she doesn’t need to get very close to smell his blood. It slides into her like honey. He holds the rose to the light. ‘You see? It’s a shade of pale mauve.’

So that's what I came up with :)

Winchester Cathedral roses are definitely very pretty, big, heavy, striking. I personally prefer something more slender, but those are still lovely flowers.
