I flashed my stash today and I have a bit more stash than I'd like. So, no new yarn for at least a few months. It took me years to accrue all of this so it will take me time to get it out.

WIP Wednesday
I’m in a group on Ravelry called Socks From Stash, and every month they have a challenge, like “knit socks with your oldest yarn,” or “knit striped socks,” or “knit socks with a yarn not made in the country you live in.” You can make up to 3 pairs of socks that qualify for the challenge in any given month, and those who complete projects get entered into a drawing for prizes.
This month’s challenge is Scraps. I knitted the pair in the first picture, using the yarns doubled on size 5 (3.75mm) needles (usual for socks is size 1.5/2.5mm). As one scrap would run out I’d just add another and keep knitting. The socks were SO FAST to knit, and are nice and thick, soft, and warm.
I had every guy in our family try them on, and they all wanted to know if those are THEIR socks. All of the guys wear a size 10.5 to 11.5 shoe (except my oldest son at a 9.5 and my SIL Tony at a 12). There are 7 men: Tony, Nael, Allen, Artemas, Josiah, Jeremiah, and Wolf.
So I decided to try to crank out 7 pairs of them in time for Christmas. I called the project “7 Pairs for 7 Sons” (ok Wolf isn’t my son but it was clever). Then I remembered Wolf is getting a pair of socks already, so that brings me to 6, but then I thought I should include Charlie (who lives in the house where Artemas and Nael live) and Tony II (Tony’s best friend, who lives with Desiree and him). So that actually brings me to 8 pairs to make.
Anyhoo, I got the first pair done in a week (normally I’m lucky if I get a pair of socks done in a month). The 2nd pair took me 2 weeks, but we were doing day camp all last week and part of the week before, so most nights I was too exhausted to knit.
The 3rd pic is of the 3rd pair, that I started last night. Got just the toe done then but today I’ve gotten enough done to be starting on the heel.
3 Stash Diving Lessons Learned
3 Stash Diving Lessons Learned
I need to face it; I have a large yarn stash. I think all knitters do, really. Lately, for inspiration, I’ve diving through my stash to get ideas. It’s been a good exercise to find things that I had initially forgot about, really. I tend to grab yarn from same bin right beside my spot on the couch. Going through my yarn stash has forced me to take inventory of what I actually do have. Here…
