#StepIntoTheAM, or should I say, step into my office. Now, reflecting on a tenant of mine, an elderly woman, has never been married, let alone in a relationship, is an only child, and from what I've gathered has lived much of her life alone, without the help of others, but lives for the love of God, right. Even still, she is not in the best of health, but manages to get around, when extremely necessary. Well, as someone who grew up in a family business, where I was groomed to #TakeCare of people with mental and physical disabilities, I am always aware of the fact that my husband and I are not here just to collect her rent, rather be here for her, in ways that are beyond being a property manager. #NeedLessToSay, one day I went to check on her and in response to my voice, she said she'd fallen, but was laughing. I ran to get my keys and opened her door and proceeded to pick her up. With every ounce of the #StrengthOfAWoman in me, I got her up, dead weight and all. Now, out of concern, I spoke with the Owner and began to ponder the idea of calling the state out to get her the help she needs, #ButGod, this is what I do, right. At the same #Blessed time she's very independent, has a lot of pride and doesn't like to be helped, but being me, I refuse to take no for an answer. To my point, one day while I was giving her "the business", she replied, "Okay, Mom!" and we both laughed hysterically. Well, she fell again the other day, but this time instead of picking her up, since she really wants to be on her own and not in an assisted living home, which we've discussed, I allowed her to pull herself up. The first reason being because she didn't want or need me to call for help and if she was really hurt I could have hurt her more. The second reason being because, this is life, the way I know it and if I wasn't here, with my husband at work, she has to be strong enough to pull herself up, or at least know when and who to call for help, right. Ironically, the following day, she got up and had me call her a cab to go out. #NeverTheLess, even that is an everyday struggle, for her. #MOTS #SaturdayLove #GotsToBeMoreCareFull #TheBestPartsOfWakingUp #ThisTeaTho #MmmMmmGood
