Sterling St. Jacques
sterling st jacques
#SterlingSaintJacques (1957 – 1984) was a model the “nephew” (a title later upgraded to “son”) of actor #RaymondStJacques who had years earlier in an interview told of his plans to adopt two African American boys who were 6 and 7 years old. The adoption apparently never happened but, by the early 1970s, St. Jacques claimed to have two older sons, Raymond and Sterling. . Although Sterling studied at #LACityCollege for a time, no actual record of his birth date or birthplace can be found. He was rumored to have been born in #SaltLakeCity or to be either #Brazilian or #Jamaican decent. . Holding court in the nightlife scene of the late 1970s and early ‘80s, Sterling graced the covers of Playmen and walked the catwalk for #Halston and #Givenchy; he also had bit parts in the films #EyesofLauraMars and Sistemo l’America e torno. He palled around with #supermodel @patcleveland and was a regular at #Studio54. Cleveland and Sterling appeared in public as a couple, and were even briefly engaged in 1976 (though Sterling was widely reported to be gay). . When the fashionable night world of ‘70s-era New York dried up, #SterlingStJacques moved to Europe to try and become a nightclub DJ and advance his modeling career. Cleveland married someone else. Soon after Sterling claimed to the press he was in the poor house and was thinking of opening a dance studio in Manhattan. This idea never took shape and often appeared in both high-end and low-brow publications and performed #Italodisco which can be viewed today in YouTube. . Although widely reported that Sterling died of #AIDS in 1984, a will left by #RaymondSaintJacques, who also died of AIDS in 1991, stipulated that his "nephew" receive "the sum of $1.00". . #whatisrememberedlives #theaidsmemorial #blackhistorymonth
