Please Don't Take My Sunshine // Rhys & Marlow
Marlow's stomach churned with nerves as he threw on a sweatshirt. Rhys' text was vague, and slightly urgent, but he didn't think anything was wrong. But for all he knew, it was Aspen texting him on Rhys' phone, getting him alone so he could finish tearing him apart. Or, it was Rhys telling him that whatever they were, he didn't want it anymore. Marlow didn't know why, but the thought of Rhys dumping him or whatever, it scared him. He didn't know when he started caring about the other so much, maybe it was those moments between his scathing comments and bitter sarcasm, the moments when he was sweet and genuine and typically drunk, maybe that's when he started caring. He just didn't know if Rhys returned the feelings. He was always so mean, like he was purposefully trying to hurt Marlow and push him away, and yet when he was near death he risked dragging himself into enemy territory just to be with Marlow. And always with his drunken calls, where he just sounded needy and kind. It was just all so confusing.
When Marlow was ready, he gave his mother a kiss on the cheek, telling her he was going to go see January. He hated lying to her, but she wouldn't think twice about him seeing her, plus her thinking he was in the Elder house would make her happy. With his keys in hand, he got in his old, beat up car and started driving to the border. The lights were a lot brighter downtown, and even though it was late, people were still moving around. Most of them were from the Faze though, had no clue who he was. They probably didn't care either. He found a parking spot pretty close to the park, and within minutes he was there, seated on a bench. He grabbed his phone and shot a text to Rhys, telling him where he was. The park was empty, at least in this area, and it was eerily quiet.
