From the beginning the guerilla movement tried to centralize its activities in order to be able to act as effectively as possible. This is a picture from the inauguration of the Tauras Military district, July 19, 1945. To the left the first district commander Leonas Taunys–codename Marsas (Mars). A German Sturmgewehr is placed on the altar for the ceremony, performed by the chaplain Antanas Ylius—codename Vilkas (Wolf).
