I was not happy with how Day 36 came out so I redid St Angela Merici again last night... the blue did not come out how I pictured it in my head 🤷♂️ “You will accomplish more by kind words and a courteous manner than by anger or sharp rebuke..." - St Angela Merici; patron saint of the sick, disabled and physically challenged people and those grieving the loss of parents #lent2021 #day36 #40for40 #stangelamerici #redux #again #stursula #prayforus #catholic #saint #backtothedrawingboard #noshamedance https://www.instagram.com/p/CNIsbKpMzrA/?igshid=1j73y50m89tjy
St. Ursula is the first sacred building in Munich that turned away from the medieval architectural models and thus assumes a bridging function between historicism and art nouveau/modernism. 🙏🥨🍻📸😊 Greetings and have a fantastic day all. ~~~~ After Schwabing, which was made a town in 1887, had been growing steadily since the 19th century, the parish church of St. Sylvester (then St. Ursula) soon proved to be too small. The first expansion plans were discarded in favor of a new building elsewhere, the planning of which was assigned to August Thiersch. With St. Ursula, Thiersch wanted to create a new urban center for Schwabing, but this did not succeed. He therefore placed the three-nave basilica on the axis of Friedrichstrasse and designed a square around it. The design envisaged a basilica with a central campanile in the centre, flanked on both sides by symmetrical buildings. Of the two buildings originally planned to flank the basilica symmetrically, only the vicarage in the east was built. In order to show the independent connection with Schwabing at the same time, that of St. Ursula elected, which was taken over by the previous village church; Secondary patron was St. Nikolaus von Myra, since the new building was also the successor to the Nicolai Chapel, which was profaned in the 19th century and demolished in 1908. . . #churchart #stursula #schwabing #antennebayern #instamunich #munichcity #welovemunich #visitbavaria #raw_germany #exploregermany #germanalphas #weroamabroad #cityshots #createxplore #destination_wow #mustdotravels #opticalwander #passporttoearth #roamearth #stillatraveler #street_visions #thetraveltag #structure_bestshots #urban_addicts #creative_ace #ready2_shoot #tones_addiction #thematic_photogroup #thecommuterstock #impressive_gallery (at St. Ursula (München)) https://www.instagram.com/p/Catv-Bxs1Ll/?utm_medium=tumblr

#FeastDay #SaintOfTheDay #StUrsula, princess of #Wales, and Companions The ships carrying her and 11,000 virgins from England to France drove them all to the shores of #Cologne, #Germany. They were forced to land by the heathen Huns and would have them sacrificed. Ursula, the #Christian heroine, exhorted all, rather to suffer the most bitter death than consent to their lust. All followed her admonition, and courageously resisted the savages, who, in their furious rage, killed the defenseless virgins with swords, arrows and clubs.
