Bridal talk/advice
Hi there all brides/future brides it’s Nikki here and i’m wanting to talk a little about wedding dress searching and finding that one dress your wanting. Its been my own adventure looking for a dress but I'm happy to say I finally did find the dress of my wedding dreams and official picked it up today.
OH SO EXCITING!!! :)
But i’m wanting to talk more about trying dresses on and what it is you should expect or do if your a new bride looking for dresses now or will be looking soon.
*My first set of advice would be to go looking online wether its on Pinterest, Instagram, online, magazines where ever to at least get an idea of styles and designers you might like and want to try on. It never hurts to scout out and see many different styles. My best advice for that is to download “The Knot LookBook” app and start there its free and much less junk to keep around the house, rather than having a million different magazines. Just really think what style and designs would speak to you as “BRIDE”.
*Second advice, think of who is most important to you and your special planning of finding a dress. Meaning who would you want to go and support you in finding a dress. It might be a good idea to keep the number of people you bring with you to sometimes a minimal of five people. Sometimes when you have too many people to join you on this quest it can become extremely tiring because everyone will have a opinion of what it is they think you should be wearing on your wedding day. Remember YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS GOING TO WEAR THE DRESS not them so it is extremely important that you love whatever it is you try on. During this time if for some reason people you bring are not seeing things your way meaning (they are not agreeing on anything you like) then at that point it might be time to honestly drop that person from the search of gowns. I only say that because their taste in dresses just might not be the same as yours. Sometimes it can be good to just go alone to a few dress appointments to have your own piece of mind without judgement.
*Third advice which goes hand in hand with the second advice. No matter who you bring or ask everyone will have their own opinion of what kind of dress it is that would look good on you. If your looking for a dress that is form fitting and shows off your curves but someone important (say your mom) wants you in a ballgown but really thats not what you envision for your wedding day know its okay to tell that person no! If they want you to try a dress on that you know is far from your style its up to you if you feel like trying to dress on to simply show them the dress, because who knows you might like the dress. Or you can flat out say no “I would like to save this time to try a dress on I'm really wanting to try on”. Yes that person maybe upset or is not agreeing with what it is your wanting to wear or try on but know this is your special day
*Forth advice, if you need to try on 20 different dresses until you find that one that fits your needs then do it! DO NOT SETTLE! I have to say i tried on about 19 different dresses until i found the dress. And trust me when you know, you will know! I kept saying to myself how will I know when i found the dress and once I did, I honestly did cry a little and knew instantly that I found my dress. Please don't give up in that search the dress it out there! :) My dress I took a random stumble on and didn't really notice the dress on the rack or on the hanger at first but once i tried it on I fell in love! <3
