Thoughts on Jamie x Leopold

I like that Jamie and Leopold’s initial interactions reflect Gwen and Frederick’s - Frederick was put off by Gwen’s appearance, which is almost exactly how Leopold felt about Jamie. Frederick, like everybody else in the comic, could see Jamie’s beauty straight away, whereas Leopold is disdainful of Jamie to start with. Leopold saw Gwen’s beauty as soon as he saw her because he’s taught himself to see unconventional beauty but he and Frederick are both kind of shallow to start with. Leopold feeling as if he’s being haunted by the Pink Demon also mirrors Frederick worrying that Gwen was going to haunt him :D

(I love that Leopold is kind of annoyed about realising that Jamie is actually a lovely, kind, brave person who isn’t only superficially beautiful :D)

After all that, my expectation is that Jamie and Leopold will get together :D :D :D ...eventually. Thinking that Leopold will be equally as frustrated about being attracted to Jamie as he is about accidentally drawing him makes me smile :) They’re both invested in their chosen professions and I like that they have opposing tastes in food. I can imagine Leopold continuing trying to get Jamie to eat more healthily, and Jamie trying to get Leopold to eat more sweets like in the last panel of Ep 93. Learning more about Jamie will be awesome too :D As always, I’m very excited to see where this story goes.

(My favourite part of Ep 94 was Coach Curtis :D)

The Shocking Scene of Three Machines

A Short-Short Stream of Consciouness Tale by Chris LeBrane

The crowd waits in anticipation…

All of their faces; men, women, and children alike, are all in a state of perpetual shock.  They all gaze at the scene with an unexpected mix of fear, anger, and under-carriage excitement.  It would be safe to note that if this hazard were being performed in a private controlled area, none of this would seem out of place.  But since it is 4:15pm on a Thursday afternoon in the heart of downtown, it makes for a scandalous scene.

The catalyst goes into motion…

A whimper…

A sigh…

A  gasp.

The crowd still waits…

A young boy asks his father what is going on…

His father replies “Shut up, son.  Dad is REALLY busy right now.”

He is doing nothing at all.

The motion gets faster…

The nervous congregation fidgets as the pistons go into overdrive.  The body of work (aka “The Machine”) has gone from normal tones into an electric red, biologically speaking.  The crowd nervously mimics the motions of the catalyst, their bodies and hands swaying back and forth, as if they were in control of the dials.

The noise gets louder…

With each passing second, the pistons send the machines more vibrational business, enthralling the massive throng of lookers-on.  The suspense is elongating and terrifying, in that “you love it” sort of razzmatazz.  Three patches of the crowd mimic the machine’s noise, while others (some of whom were just shopping at the new-fangled “I H8 Trends” Department Store) gather in a zombie-like state to witness this odd occurrence.

The motion is now in a state of frenzy.

The machine violently rocks out of control.  The people, visibly moved by this, begin to all yell and shout mixtures of encouragement and random 4-letter sounds in the general direction of the action.  Women shake uncontrollably, men pant and perspire.  Parents hide their kids faces, in fear of the inevitable traumatization that will rob the kids of their innocence, and rob the parents of their respective bank accounts (Therapy…it works!).  As the pistons break on through to the other side…a scream is heard…

EXPLOSION!!!

The over-excited crowd clutch themselves as a clear plasm falls over them from the sky–a result of said explosion.  The plasm covers them all, as sounds of joy, anger, and bewilderment takes over the sounds of the mechanical spectacle, which has now become nothing more than purely silent.

As the last drop falls into the Latte of a soccer-mom, the crowd snaps out of its droning trance.  And without a sound, the crowd disbands, their faces filled with a hybrid of happiness and disgust.

And as the last foot steps away from the area in question, the three machines (two men, one woman) apply their clothing once more, and disappear into the uncommon mid-afternoon city mist.

I found:

a memory I'd forgotten, hidden away nameless on someone else's shelf - a stranger. It reminded me of who I was before..
