Walpurga's night - the birth of the summer sun marking to beginning of the summer equinox ☀️
sun in cancer
⨀ ♋︎
the sun enters cancer on June 21st. this is also known as the summer solstice. this is the longest day of the year. it's kind of funny when you think cancer season bringing the longest day of the year. cancer being the hermit of the zodiac sign, having the longest day of the year doesn't seem right. if this day was given to leo, that would make more sense. but with cancer who prefers to stay lowkey, and out of the way, to have the longest day where their visibility is up for display cannot be more far to what cancer represents. cancer season is a time where you want to spend time with family. that could be why they like to hideaway. rather than spend time in the limelight. for cancers, being at home with their loved ones is much more preferred. this is also a time where the love of your country comes into mind. you love the place you call home, whether it be the house you go to everyday, or the country where you are born. this is important for you during this time. it's also important to honor your parents, ancestors, and everybody who came before you. there is something so spiritual about this time that people forget. you are here because of the people before you. honor and respect that. especially honoring the mother during this time. cancer being ruled by the moon has a deep connection to the mother. who you are is because of the life that was given to you by the vessel that is the womb of your mother. mothers are the life givers of the earth. I saw a quote online, can't remember where I saw it from, but the quote said "that the earth is filled with mothers and their children". such a beautiful realization, and something to take note of during this cancer season. the feminine should be respected and adored, not only as the portal that brings life, but because the feminine gives life to everything, big or small. use your sun/moon/rising to see the affirmation that fits this cancer season or you.

Visiting Jim's Medicine Wheel at the Equinox
Our good friend and former president of the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society, Jim West, had some of his ashes scattered here where his friends built him a proper archaeoastronomy medicine wheel. We visit every year, talk a little, and share a drink. Jim was the best of us.
