(No exact diagnosis is given to make characters more relatable to more people.

Dahlia hawthorne (ace attorney):

Reason:she always has a parasol and seems to have some built up frustration. Has hyperfocased on beauty and manipulation (ie. grasping for control)

Headcanon: she and iris were exposed to sunlight after birth. The physical wounds took all of her mystical abilities to heal and it just kinda never came back. Iris being the smaller never got any but spent the rest of her life feeling guilty over her sisters illness

(Dahlia also definitely milks the issue for all it's worth)

Bruce wayne (dc):

Reason:Gotham is gloomy but he really said let's do most of our actions at night. Also he went to the cinema late in fucking Gotham

Headcanon: it's one of the biggest reasons he blames himself for his parents death. His outings had to happen at night and his parents died for it. He blames himself for not just staying inside

Tim drake (dc):

Reason: was left home alone constantly, almost as if the parents didn't know how to relate to a disabled child.

Headcanon: doesn't think it's a big deal. Like genuinely doesn't get why people are so sympathetic towards him. Joker tried to burn him at dawn and one of his siblings broke his fucking arm. Is such a hoodie lover.

Penguine and most of lounge staff (dc):

Reason: that man has so much money. He could go move somewhere sunny if he wanted. The loungestaff because they will be loyal cause they understand him

Headcanon: was originally trying to make enough money to cure himself of his uv allergy but gave the fuck up after a stint of depression. He doesn't know batman has it and batman politely ignores that penguine has it.

Raven (teen titans):

Reason:obvious hooded figure is obvious

Headcanon:she doesn't hate it the way her mother did. I fact a weakness any weakness from her mom makes her feel more human despite its oddness

Ravens mother (dc):

Reason:hear me out. What else could have pushed her to join a cult and sleep with a demon besides feeling dirty and cursed.

Headcanon: was definitely bullied relentlessly for it. Became a school punching bag. Her old classmates are very lucky Raven is the magic and not her mother

April O'Neil (tmnt 2012):

Reason: we first see her out in The middle of the night and the turtles dont see her midday so whose saying she isn't.

Headcanon: hates being seen as fragile for something she can't control. Would be a fainter if she wasn't so damn stubborn. She loves an aesthetic sun visor

Nina sayers (black swan):

Reason:there's gotta be some sort of trigger to her mothers overprotectiveness

Headcanon: it's one of the reasons she couldn't black swan properly. Her mother fought it so fucking hard that any comfort and calm the night and the dark brang to her was also repressed. (Slept with a nightlight coded)

Ford pines (gravity falls);

Reason:

1) being born with one disability kinda opens pandoras box for you

2)he's a shut in living in a forest area

Headcanon: his intelligence was encouraged by his father cause he "didn't want to take care of the boy for the rest of his damn life."

Lucifer morningstar (hazbin hotel):

Reason: because making a being named morningstar allergic to sunlight sounds about right for the show. Never tries to leave hell.

Headcanon: use to be fine but falling literally changed his biology. This is just another punishment for him. Tried to leave hell once and almost burned to death.

Charlie morningstar (hazbin hotel):

Reason: she's related to her dad

Headcanon: she has a much lighter case. Might (of she's lucky) grow out of it. Her mom isn't allergic and it makes her a lil insecure even though she would never admit it.

Maxie(pokemon):

Reason: covered up head to tow and doesn't seem like an outdoors person. Or a people person really.

Headcanon: still craves academic validation as a adult.

sabrina (pokemon, game):

Reason: it's implied she was created in a lab opening the doors to disabilities via human tampering. Covered up head to toe. Not a people person in a (very dangerous) different way then Archie (probably never developed social skills)

Headcanon: it all stems from being created in the lab rather then being born. It's so deeply a part of her that she doesn't even think of curing it.

At least one parasol lady(pokemon)

Reason: statistically there's gotta be at least one background/npc character with a solar allergy in the pokemon world. What other choice would that character have

Headcanon: vague parasol lady is super quiet about her diagnosis. She wears longer stallings then the others and desperately tries to blend in.

Kaguya houraison (touhou):

Reason: shes literally a moon princess. She is also is word of Fandom a shuttin. Probably the reason eiran is so obedient to her.

Headcanon: it's actually a point of pride for her. It's another trait that ties her to her heritage no matter how far away she is. Sure she can be forced away but they literally can't take this from her. It's something she clings to

Eclipsa (svtfoe):

Reason: she empathized with the ostracized and her assigned husband seemed to hate her. (Rip queen you deserved a better ex and a better show. Your shoulders must hurt from carrying svtfoe so long)

Headcanon: she is actually releived meteora doesn't seam to have it. As much as she wouldn't trade the empathy and emotional intelligence she gained from it for anything, she also knows its incredibly painful. Probably has the worst case mewnies ever seen.

Alice liddell (alice madness returns):

Reason: everything is gloomy even in the real world. Like I know she lives in London but still. There's gotta be a sunny day here and there.

Headcanon: because of her other diagnoses no one believes her. She has learned to keep her mouth shut and handle it herself

(Sorry for the vagueness I straight up culturally osmosis this game.)

Celeste (animal crossing):

Reason: We only see her on starry nights. Seems a bit spicy and naive as if shes been just a bit sheltered.

Headcanon: her brother use to be jealous of the special treatment she got (being allowed to sleep during the day.) Until her disorder started to progress and she had to go to a hospital for a while.

Jack(animal crossing):

Reason: it's never confirmed he is actually supernatural. He covers up and runs around at night. He also seems to lack social skills (the trifecta)

Headcanon: was never officially diagnosed. Doesn't seem to understand its a disability. Good for him I guess. His pumpkin head is his disability aid

Eda hawthorne( but only sometimes):

Reason: demons are already supposed to be light sensitive(also demons aren't vampires don't start) but stress raises histamine levels.i just took the given info to its most extreme case

Headcanon: it's why she drinks so much. Even the dusky light of the isles is alot for her. She comes back to not just sore on the inside but with hives on the outside and theres nothing the healers can do for this part of the curse. Luz and king don't mention it. She was always a little allergic but She genuinely thinks it's all the curse.

The twili (twilight princess)

Reason: it's explained away with magic but it's borderline Canon forgive me if I'm wrong but I don't think they leave bones meaning at least some of it is biological

Headcanon: they run great big markets at night with food stalls and craftsman. It's a bit odd but bustling and honestly really beautiful.

Inuyashas mom (inuyasha):

Reason: no flashback ever shows her during daylight. Also Inuyashas dad probably had a savior complex

Headcanon: when she met inuyahas dad, he saved her from being beaten for being "cursed" spent alot of her spare time on inside hobbies.

Princess Yue (atla):

Reason: standard moon affiliations

Headcanon: she doesn't feel like she's missing much. Being hot and sweaty is a no thanks. Dresses in layers when forced outside during day

June (atla) :

Reason: her only friend seems to be a animal. Might be because other people fnd her disorder incredibly off-putting.

Headcanon: She acts tough but is actually really lonely. People only approach her when there's something that needs to be done.

Powder/jinx (arcane):

Reason: everyone around powder was very protective of her. So I assigned her to reason why.

Headcanon: shimmer actually made her skin worse. She ignores it for the most part.

Morticia Addams (the Addams family):

Reason: Girl took her diagnoses and fucking ran with it. It is now her entire personality.

Headcanon: the most extensive black silk glove collection on earth. It's really quite impressive. Shes got wrist length and opera length and charcoal and onyx. Is currently looking for one that has web like lace.

Love fortunes witch (kikis delivery service):

Reason:shes only shown for a couple minutes at night. "Love fortunes" sounds more like "let's overcompensate to make sure I'm liked"

"Cool and smug" more like "distance yourself to not get hurt"

Headcanon: is sick and tired of people saying things like "she's so pretty, it's such a shame she's like that." So she became a love witch to shut the catty comments down. Somehow became what she hated most

Vivian (thousand year door):

Reason: probably a biological thing (hush she's not a vampire ) also big hat.

Headcanon: she aestheticizes it to cope. It's why she's so far away mentally. Certified maladaptive daydreamer.

Lady amalthea ( the last unicorn):

Reason: most of the movie takes place at night.( And it makes her even more tragic)

Headcanon: is definitely a fainter. She would go down fast too. Very lucky she didn't go through that. As a unicorn she's fine. Something about being human was not kind to her biology.

Black cat (spiderman):

Reason: a black cat allergic to sunlight seems fun. Also her clothes cover her arms and legs. You rarely rarely rarely see them uncovered.

Headcanon: her dad had solar allergies too. It's why they were so close. It felt like him and her against the world. That's why she went off the rale when he turned himself in. In her mind there's absolutely no one left in her life that can truly relate to her. Love love loves a uv proof Thigh high

Lisa (castlevania):

Reason: hyper empathetic to the ill, and somehow related to the actual count Dracula. Looks real pale and was burned as a witch

Headcanon: was moved around alot as a child for her own safety. Was hidden in a apple basket under a armfull with a blanket on top of her head. Her parents did see her death coming as they were essentially fighting the church

Danny phantom (Danny phantom):

Reason: his molecules got rearranged man. That can mean any disability. The world is world is oyster

Headcanon: it's painful but due to his healing factor it doesn't scar. Its why he got used to the pain of fighting so quick. Only phantom is allergic though both sides of him gets the constant adrenaline flow.

(Tell me if you guys want more disability headcanons and I'll try to follow suggestions depending on how much I know)

Sun would most definitely make birthdays for the kids at the daycare and the kids of July 16th toys if they ever lost it and have a little birthday party for them singing happy birthday and giving them fake cake.

Okay that’s it time for some headcanons to get these blorbos under control, and also bc it might help with writing them in the future:

Sun

Sun is the featured personality when the ambient light around him is over a certain threshold for at least a few seconds. He is very aware of Moon, and while management often categorizes them as one animatronic, most employees and customers instead refer to them as two distinct characters. Sun also shares a memory with Moon, though he describes it less as being out of control of his body and more like watching a summary of events when he eventually takes control back, sometimes forcibly.

Though Sun adores kids, he can and does get severely anxious and overstimulated by them; this happens rarely, though multiple animatronic software engineers have yet to find a reason why—if he’s programmed to be a caretaker, how can he get overwhelmed by his primary duty? Regardless, Sun is often able to get through a full day of glitter glue and screaming by retreating to his room above the daycare, or if he’s particularly desperate he will try to let Moon take control, though this is even rarer still.

Sun is extremely expressive and bouncy, and several people have joked that if he was tied to a chair then he wouldn’t be able to talk at all; he makes large gestures with his hands almost constantly, though nobody is certain if that’s simply a happy accident of his childcare programming or if he’s just like that—the kids love him regardless. He’ll often jump about or the sunray spines on his head will spin about when he’s excited about something. Because of this, Sun is an atrocious liar (not that he likes lying in the first place)

Both Sun and Moon are incredibly flexible and acrobatic, but Sun does his best to keep any ‘unnatural’ motion or twisting around to a minimum—it frightens the children, or so he has decided, so most of his body language is relatively natural.

Moon

Similar to Sun, Moon is given control over their body when the ambient light is very low for at least several seconds, though the shift can sometimes take up to a full minute. Single points of light—such as a flashlight—does not inherently make him change back into Sun. It is painful however, as his eyes are carefully attuned to seeing in the darkness when he is physically switched over, perhaps even having a form of heat-sensitive vision that his maintenance workers have alluded to a few times.

In very rare circumstances Moon can be out when the space around him is fully lit; this however requires Sun to willingly allow him control and for Moon to focus very hard on not letting his body automatically shift back. This has only occurred on one occasion and is considered a bug in their system.

While often characterized as ‘evil’ or ‘mean’, Moon genuinely cares for his wards and for Sun as well—he is simply less bright and outspoken than his sunny counterpart. He loves to play jokes and cause various sorts of trouble that rarely bring harm to anyone. His most favorite activity is chasing the children around the daycare like a monster, but recent complaints by parents have restricted the time that the daycare isn’t lit during business hours. (The kids themselves love him though, several calling him endearing nicknames despite Moon’s grumbling)

Hilariously, Moon is incredibly good with neurodivergent children. Whether this is a purposeful part of his subroutines or not is anyone’s guess, but he does know when to draw a line with his shenanigans and is often a huge comfort to kids who are overstimulated, overwhelmed or needing comfort some someone who isn’t as high-energy as Sun is.

Moon, just like Sun, has the flexibility to contort his animatronic body into very unnatural angles, and he often uses this to his delight when scaring the kids (or the daycare employees on occasion). He is quite fond of scaling the jungle gyms like a spider, and is more than capable of twisting his body through openings that seem way too small for a seven-odd foot tall animatronic like himself.

Eclipse

Technically, Eclipse is not normally supposed to be encountered in day-to-day activities. He is first and foremost a subsystem safe mode, either in times of extreme danger towards himself or his wards in the daycare, or if he is suffering a system meltdown in some way and needs to do a hard reboot to fix it. He is so internalized in fact that Sun and Moon aren’t even aware that he is part of them—maybe deep down they can guess that there’s something else between their two personality matrices, but they wouldn’t be able to say much for sure.

On the flip side, Eclipse is aware of Sun and Moon’s presence, but he doesn’t share their memories or knowledge outside what is strictly allowed in his coding.

Since he is a designated safe mode and the combination of Sun and Moon’s code playing out in tandem, Eclipse is very sweet and soft-spoken; this is reportedly to help with keeping those around him calm, namely the children that would be nearby in the case of a crisis. But do not for a moment mistake that gentle demeanor as weakness—if he registers a threat within a certain range, he can and will remove it by any means necessary.

Any. Means. Necessary. There is a reason why most employees consider the daycare to be one of the safest places within the Pizzaplex, though management won’t comment either way in order to avoid misunderstood fear from parents that use the childcare service.

When in Eclipse mode, light and darkness don’t really have an effect on him, though he has described that there is a slight internal shifting within his chassis that is vaguely uncomfortable, though he doesn’t quite know why.

Curious question for you fellow sun/moon/daycare attendant lovers:

Do you think that Sun is fine with fellow adult workers or passive aggresively hates them lol. Ive seen a few takes. Personally I think Sun loves kids - but not so much for pizzaplex workers.

Idk, I just feel like hes not a fan of adults (I mean he was literally programmed to be the perfect friend for kids). I always think its a little jarring when a fic is like “omg hi new friend!!!!” about Sun because I can totally see him being like “HELLO why are you in MY daycare??” to a worker with the hugest most sickly smile on his face and a not-so-subtle eye twitch dkssls

You know the posters in the game that advertise the sun drop and moon drop candies? Well I've seen multiple people talking about Sun and Moon being able to dispense them. Though I haven't seen people talking about how they dispense the candies. Naturally that got me thinking, which lead me to think about other things that could be related to this.

Basically, the candies come out of a hatch in the palms of their hands. Specifically sun drops come out of the left hand and moon drops come out of the right hand.

Now, factoring in the idea that they can only give out the candy that corresponds with their theming (meaning Sun is only able to give out sun drops and Moon is only able to give out moon drops), we can talk about which hand is their dominant hand(s). I'd like to note that I think their body as a whole is ambidextrous, but as individuals they ended up favoring one hand over the other while going about their day to day lives. They just both ended up favoring the hand that their candy comes out of. So, Moon is right handed and Sun is left handed. It was kinda a subconscious thing for both of them, but it worked out for the best.

If they were to ever get their own separate bodies then they'd be able to dispense their candy from both hands, but would have the same dominant hand that they had when they were just one robot.

(Also, this is just something I thought was cute, but sun will sometimes dispense a candy while holding someone's hand. It's a nice little surprise he likes to do for people for many reasons.)

Overall, Sun is a very happy-go-lucky, ‘let’s look on the bright side of things’ sort of guy. There would  never be quite a dull day with him at your side, and you’d never feel without at least one person who was willing to do anything they could just to make you smile. He’s precisely that person for you, always there to laugh, to smile, to hold you tight.

With Sun, he’s ever the curious boyfriend, as much towards you as he is to everything around him. Is there a question to be answered, an adventure to be had? It could be as exciting as going out to save a village infested with Grimm or as domestic as buying groceries for the two of you, either one would be just as exciting with him. 

He’s lighthearted, but knows when things need a serious response. It’s something that a lot of people don’t really know about him--it’s so easy to see Sun as simply the jokester, the funny-guy, but he’s very observant to the people he cares about and extremely sensitive to their emotional needs. Granted, he’s not any sort of doctor and he’s bound to make mistakes, but the man’s intentions are about as pure as can be.

Sun will do just about anything to make you smile. One of his favorite things to say, upon making you laugh, is always something along the lines of ‘making you happy is my biggest victory of the day’.

Out of everything, Sun doesn’t really care about ‘dates’. He finds it amusing, setting aside a time and day to spend time with you (as if he doesn’t already try to do that already). It’s not like he’s opposed to making it an event of spending time together, he just sorta internally labels every moment spent with you as something special of its own--there’s no need to give it a label.
