May 25, 2013 | I’ve lived about an hour away from Charlotte my whole life and had known of Elevation Church for a year or two and had wanted to visit. On this specific date I’m coaching a high school playoff baseball game against Weddington High School. Knowing that Elevation Blakeney is just a few miles away, I make the drive over after the game as a VIP. Little did I know this day would change my life forever. From the moment I pulled into the parking lot I felt and saw the energy and happiness of all the volunteers. I admit I didn’t turn on my flashers because I was scared what would happen. From being enthusiastically taken inside by a VIP team volunteer to the most powerful worship music I’d ever heard to Ps @stevenfurtick sermon called “Even Now, Somehow” from the Expectation Gap series, I was blown away by everything and knew that this was where I wanted to call my church home. I was hooked and started coming every week driving an hour each way. I started volunteering as a greeter at Blakeney in August 2013 and was baptized on September 1, 2013 during Raised to Life. Two months later I quit my job and moved to Charlotte without having another job lined up and only having guaranteed housing for 4 months. Talk about a leap of faith. Somehow, God provided what I needed. When @elevationweddington opened I gave up my seat at Blakeney and I’m now serving at the Weddington campus. It’s crazy to think that Weddington High School brought me to Elevation and now I’m bringing Elevation to Weddington, only God could orchestrate that. I’ve been through some of the hardest times of my life the past few years and I know without a doubt I wouldn’t be who I am without @ElevationChurch and the amazing people here. My faith and trust in God is at a level I would have never expected and I’ve made the best friends I could ever ask for along with an amazing @elevationegroups. I’m far from perfect and I’m still a work in progress but because of Elevation I know whose I am and to whom I belong. I’m blessed beyond measure to be a part of this church and I’m excited for the future because I know the best is yet to come! #elevat10n #superversary
