to all the anons: I’m not putting down Black Out at all, I love it. I love putting down negative stereotypes and celebrating the black culture, I elected to take African studies in school and I might not be in your position but I understand it. However, when put with Asian Invasion you can’t just put the event down saying it’s copying or the Asian Invasion is trying to take blacks out of central focus. In fact it’s as if you’re saying we don’t matter as much as the black community and to say one race does not matter as much as the other is backwards thinking and hypocritical. The Asian Invasion was not specifically made to be anti-black, if that was it’s original intent then things have changed as many events do in the social media. To many, the Asian Invasion is just another reminder that there’s other minorities fighting the same fight in America alongside the Black community. I am not anti-black, I actively put down racism in my workplace and community and I’ve seen African Americans worship in Asian churches, shop and eat at stores owned by Asian people, and live in Asian communities without being treated in any degrading manner. For the Asian population in America, race is not black and white and we are somewhere in the middle. We get privileges many blacks don’t get but we’re still not in the same social standing as whites and because we are in this middle we’re often overlooked. Mostly this is because Asians are always taught to keep quiet, do good, don’t create waves, don’t draw attention to yourself. I’m young, I don’t know everything. But to say I and the majority of the Asian community is anti-black is completely wrong and insulting and if they don’t speak up, I will.
