Further Thoughts on SWTOR: KOTFE & KOTET’s Narrative in the Wider Story
Spoilers below as usual.
Basically, talking about the two expansions in a wider lens.
So I’m on the second planet in Onslaught now and trying to get back my Dark Council seat.
As I was being like “bitch give me back my mf seat tf👿👿👹” in the game, I got to thinking about the story up until this point.
Like dawg I got barely and time to be a Dark Council Member before they were like “nah you being emperor of a kingdom you don’t even know about.”
I do understand why this is, they didn’t want to make a super class-catered expansion. That’s why they were tryna push force balance onto you because painting with a wide stroke brush is easier.
I won’t fault them for that.
The other biggest reason why the story went the way it did was pacing.
Dawg they let you get to the top of the Sith hierarchy way too early. Like I just became a Sith apprentice last year and I already am on the dark council? Nah.
So with those two things in mind, the game had no choice but to make me the most powerful person in a kingdom I don’t even care about because I never wanted to be there to begin with.
I feel like a lot of people feel the same way I did which is why we’re left to play catch-up in Onslaught. Because the game’s pacing gave you things way too fast, ran out of ideas, then wiped the slate clean in KOTFE and KOTET.
It’s a lose-lose situation because if you liked the whole “be eternal throne person” then everything you did in those two expansions were for nothing.
But if you didn’t like being eternal emperor of a kingdom you don’t even know about or have any emotional investment in, you feel like you wasted your time just for you to have to earn back what you spent the whole base game getting.
Either way, you’re back to square one. Either way, it feels like you’ve wasted your time on some bullshit—even if the expansions didn’t take long to get through.
Honestly, this is a pacing issue with the story. This isn’t something that can be fixed.
I personally think that you shouldn’t have been given any high rank within your respective side at the end of the base game, like the expansions should have been where you earned your stripes and rank.
I’m re-learning to tank again. After Lost Island, I get Manaan, in all MM. Such bad luck. But is it lucky that I got carried by good and geared groups?
Overall: no. Honestly, the story left a bad taste in my mouth.
Look where the story shines it does great but where it doesn’t it fails miserably.
The side characters are great and I ended up really liking mostly all of them. Even Tharon—who I had beef with on a different character.
I can only speak from personal taste but I despise where the story goes.
I don’t want to be a bitch ass emperor of some space region I don’t care about.
I wanna be a Dark Council member and hang out with Marr and fight the Republic
I want my OG companions back.
Literally, where the fuck are the Sith Inquisitor companions? Literally no one shows up
All the companions I like either never show up again after a mission or two, or they fucking die.
Like thanks game you took my faves from me twice
This is a wishy washy ass expansion pack that tries to one-size-fit-all the classes and sides by making you a force radical centrist.
Shit isn’t fun to me. I want my seat on the Dark Council back because I like the Empire.
Also, I don’t give a fuck about Arcann, his dad, his mom, or his sister. Hell I ended up killing everyone in his family but his twin brother.
I just wanted an option to say “dissolve ZukLand and reinstate everything to how it was”.
This emperor bullshit is just not fun to play because up until these expansion packs, you were playing sith vs Jedi/Empire vs Republic and having fun that dynamic.
Being a force radical centrist isn’t fun. It’s stale and boring as hell.
As far as gameplay goes, KoTET had so much padding it was unreal.
The Walker parts of missions were terrible.
The waves of enemies in missions sucked.
The damn boujee emperor political house party was terrible because of the stupid ass “hint” feature.
Overall, I didn’t like the KoTET expansion even though I really did enjoy KoTFE.
I wouldn’t replay these ever again and i never want to with any character or make any new decisions
It just didn’t give me a story I want because all I want is to be chilling in the Sith Empire fighting Jedi and shit.
Also, give me back my OG companions holy fuck I beat these expansion packs I should have an option to get them back if I so choose
I hate being the Emperor I want to be a Dark Lord of the Sith like Sheev. This game don’t understand that I choose this class because I wanted to be it 4L
The Eternal Throne plotline damn near ruins the game story wise for me, the only reason why I even played it was because I’m now given crates that I can only use if I play to a certain point in the Expansion.
Unless I can be the dark lord of the sith again in the story, my time playing through any story missions are done
So I was selling items I got in those crates in SWToR. I got the natural point where you have nice items but nothing you wanna sell. So I was feeling like “I wanna give these away” I had like three pets, i made an “whisper me if you want it” offer. I gave one away.
Then i found this character who looked relatively low level. I was like “ you new to the game?” They we’re like “yeah”
So I ended up giving them 1.5m credits, a high rating lightsaber crystal, two pets, two vehicle mounts, a character title, and a lightsaber. It was nice bru.
once I get my money up again (and possibly buy the last armor set I want) I’ll probably start just giving random new players I find cartel stuff bc I don’t care much about it in general lol
Considering how mind control and conditioning was a huge part of the Imp Agent’s baseline storyline, I’m curious to see if it actually plays a role in KOTET.
Like my character experienced it firsthand, he should be able to be like “look, I understand what you’re going through, I can help you.”
This is a great potential in the story, I hope that the story doesn’t ignore this because of how Jedi/Sith centric it is
I also don’t like how everyone is like “let’s trigger this bitches conditioning” and the game doesn’t give me an opportunity to speak back And be like “nah let’s not. I been through that and I won’t put that on anyone else” when my companions wanna do it
I was able to bring up my distaste for it when it was first brought up, but dude was like “what happened to you was barbaric but this is needed.” Like that was the reason my character got mine controlled in the first place.
The Dark Council thought they were a threat.
I really hope the game don’t throw this away because they’re being thrown a softball
My hopes for the Legacy of the Sith SWTOR Expansion
I’ll be honest, after playing though all the stories twice. I really just want a grounded, political focused story again
I want no more avengers endgame swtor edition bullshit.
I want a military conflict story that isn’t me being forced to play spiritual warfare with the gods emperors.
Fuck the superhero esque bullshit. Star Wars has never been about fighting thanos every mf week. Shit never happened in the OT, or the PT. Shit only happened when the ST came out and that’s okay because bitches were tryna copy the popularity of the MCU.
Thoughts on Swtor: KoTFE and KoTET Upon My Second Playthrough As An Imperial Agent
This will be in-depth and contain spoilers for both a full darkside, sith inquisitor run and a “lightside” imperial agent run.
The first time I completed the KoTFE and KoTET Expansions I was a sith assassin tank class. My SQ has no sense, no morality, and basically is just a harbinger of chaos and destruction. All dude wants is his dark council seat—basically.
However, my main—and all time favorite—class will always be the Imperial Agent. I love the class. I love dude’s voice. I love the story. I love not having to worry about light and dark and just playing as a normal (in comparison) person.
No magic. No lightsabers. No cosmic morality bullshit. It’s way more grounded and that means it’s flexible.
It’s nice and to me is more fun to play than both the Sith and Jedi classes. There’s far more room for grey—even in comparison to the Trooper, imo.
Gameplay wise, being a DPS Concealment Operative made combat encounters way less of a slog than being a Tank Darkness Sith Assassin. So yeah all I can say is that I breezed through encounters that took me way longer as a defense, close range class. Even some of the bosses took me half the time as an Agent (granted, I made wildly different story decisions)
But the way the story is handled is more important.
I’ll be honest, if KoTFE and KoTET weren’t so nearly essential expansions to the story, I would recommend that non-force user classes just skip them.
Keep in mind, that everything you do in these two expansions become useless anyways because they’re like “fuck, our bad for forcing you to be emperor of this random civilization you don’t care about. We’ll bring you back to your respective side in the galactic war. Oops.”
These two expansion packs are absolutely not made for anyone who isn’t a Jedi. They’re barely made for Sith—in certain areas.
Shit becomes painfully obvious when you get to the Visions in the Dark chapter.
When I was playing as Sith, it made me aggravated because literally the game had been “hell yeah, be sith. You choose this class to pretend to be one, have fun” but you get to that chapter and suddenly, the writers are like “oh damn well what about being a force radical centrist? Here’s a weapon you’ll never use”.
Meanwhile, when I played as an Imp Agent it was hilarious because they’re talking to me about the Force and my character don’t even know what the fuck that is. They’re like “sith code this. Jedi code that.” Dawg, the character don’t even know what that it.
It’s even more hilarious when Darth Marr shows up trying to be friendly with me as if I wasn’t some subordinate intelligence agent he would have killed in a heartbeat. Dawg, you my boss. Not my friend or colleague
It’s so out of place and tacked on that it’s funny.
They should have either made something that accommodated for the other four classes in the game, or just let us skip.
Luckily, you don’t have to be a force fence sitter but I don’t know why—outside of it being the easiest to write—that they tried to push this.
They also give you a weak ass, one-battle only ass weapon that you get so late in the game you don’t even wanna invest the resources in to make better.
On both runs, I never once used them. I put them in storage and forgot about them. It didn’t even hinder me in my fight with the final boss.
As a SQ, I just ended up fist fighting dude then realizing after that it was because I didn’t use the weak ass lightsaber.
As a Imp Agent, I never clicked the force-side prompt so I never got disarmed. Dawg, I’m playing against super human level force users as a regular ass man I can’t afford to be disarmed lmao
The real issue I had was the wasted potential with the entire plot of KoTET that occurs when you play as a Imp Agent.
If you don’t know, the Imp Agent has an entire arc in the main storyline where you’re brainwashed by SIS agents.
It’s one of the best arcs I’ve played in SWToR and—imo—one of the reasons why the Imp Agent is the best class.
This would have been a perfect chance for us to be given some Imp Agent-centric dialogue choices with Vaylin.
Maybe an opportunity to choose not to use her programming word in certain scenes.
Like you can literally tell Valkorion straight up “no I don’t want to do that because I wouldn’t wish that fate on my worst enemy.”
All Valkorion says is: “oh well what happened to you was barbaric but it’s cool when it happens to Vaylin because she’s dangerous”.
It’s an extreme lack of awareness that’s never able to be called out because that’s literally why the Imp Agent was given a reprogramming word in the first place. Like did none of the writers for this actually play the storyline for this character?
Dawg, after you defeat Darth Jadus, the Dark Council feels youre a threat and gives/activates the reprogramming word that gets leaked.
But the game don’t acknowledge this and just runs with it.
The game makes my character do something that I was literally given the dialogue choice to be adamantly against. It’s jarring.
So now, I’m here, being told “Vaylin is bad. Vaylin is dangerous” as if I wasn’t on a mad, bloodthirsty rampage to kill every SIS Agent involved.
Like, dawg, I was literally Vaylin for a good 25% of the Imp Agent base story.
This made me really sympathize with her character and near the end I ain’t even wanna kill her, I wanted her to get free of the mind control and be able to live some kind of happy existence.
I sadly wasn’t able to do that and I wish that I was.
Like I can understand for any other class not understanding/having an issue with mind control but the Imp Agent should have had some tangible and concrete choices to be against using it.
Every time I used it, it was the game forcing my character to in non-interactive cutscenes.
The bag was fumbled so hard it’s sad
Outside of that, it was no different than my SQ playthrough except I couldn’t tell people to shut the fuck up when they dissed my companions.
Fr though seriously, Kaliyo and Scorpio are treated like punching bags by the companions and you can’t say shit to them. Like in the baseline game, I choose to marry Kaliyo (which I choose to get back with her after)
It’s like “why can’t I tell people to know they place when they disrespect my baseline companions? Like all I can do is be evenhanded or say I trust my companion.” I couldn’t g check no one.
Other than that, there was no real differences.
Imo, both these expansions are a waste of time and I’ll never play them for any other class but my two main classes.

Out of all the Imperial Class storylines, this one has been my favorite so far.
There’s been a lot of twists and turns in the story and decisions have some weight—to me at least.
So for example, early in the game I had to kill a jedi master.
I killed the Jedi Master and spared the padawan because I’m not a serial killer so I spared her. I spare anyone who’s not related to the mission because why would I kill someone unrelated to the bounty.
This actually plays a role later on in the story when I’m set up on Quesh because she shows up again. I end up killing her.
But things like that really make the story more interesting imo because it makes there be a weight to the story.
I also have committed every single crime in the Republic so now they have a ten million credit bounty on me. That don’t matter though because the Empire still likes me.
So far, I really enjoy the story.
I love the companions here too. Gault is my favorite. He’s about his money and cocky as fuck. I like Torien too.
Now that I know who Torien is I’m kinda wishing that I didn’t choose him to die over Vette when I was playing KOTET with my inquisitor lmao
By far, this has been the most entertaining story out of the four
