“ why? do they make you that nervous? “ he asked, leaning in towards the boy. normally sugimoto was cockey && arrogant, hearing him say he was scared to speak in front of people was a surprise. of course this immediately attracted machimiya’s twisted attention.

banging on the door with his fist, a wave of irritation began to spread over imaizumi when the tenant wouldn’t open the door. normally when this sort of thing were to happen, it meant that they were trying to avoid the punishment for not having enough cash to keep the yakuza off their back. if someone weren’t to be home, they would usually leave an envelope inside of their mail box. though, this man’s mail box was completely empty & he wasn’t answering the door. pausing, he tried to listen for footsteps -- any sign that they were home & not answering. in his pocket, he had a master key for all of the apartments ( their boss was smarter than to pay for broken doors at the end of every month ). if this persisted, he would have to enter whether they wanted him to or not. 

this sort of job was incredibly irritating to him, it was like babysitting a bunch of scum bags that couldn’t afford to live anywhere else. a lot of people joked that he was given this job because they found it so humorous that him & arakita looked alike, so why not give them the same job while they were at it? though -- thinking more rationally than it all being one running joke, imaizumi assumed it was because he had the advantage of height ( like arakita ) and he had a rather scary looking face ( also like arakita ). in his mind, these were the criteria for being assigned this kind of job. it required intimidation & what better way to do so than a tall, scary face to look down on their tenants. of course, this wasn’t all that they did, it was more like a chore that they had to do at the end of the month -- aside from that period of time, he was usually doing something a little more fun than arguing with losers for cash. 

getting sick of waiting, he pulled the key out of his pocket & opened the door himself. stepping into the living room, he didn’t bother to remove his shoes at the door. these apartments were hardly nice as it was -- if anything, the floors here were blessed to be stepped on with such expensive soles. looking around, he still hadn’t spotted the tenant. there was no way that they resorted to hiding in a closet or anything, right?

“ SOMEBODY CATCH MY TOAD! ”

as the boy’s frog hopped on by, causing destruction in it’s path, he couldn’t help but jump back. a potion, stationed atop a flame was knocked over rolling & spilling it’s contents across the counter. he had to be kidding !! he was working on that stupid potion for the entire class period now. watching as it spilled all over was inhumanly cruel!!

reaching out, he caught the slimy creature between two chubby hands. ihara was sure to keep a tight hold, enough so that it couldn’t simply hop out from between his grasp. “you let this thing loose in here?!” he asked -- his irritation hardly allowing him to consider that it certainly could have been an accident.

an underclassman coming to machimiya for help was . . .  virtually unheard of. while the man could read palms & ‘stars’ like no other, he was not the kind of person that you would ever find any useful advice from. he was generally mean, incredibly horny & not the best spoken. his social skills were lacking big time. the only person that managed to stick around through all of this was ibitani, but he was a different story -- the man’s fixation on the redhead was really something else. of course, he never knew what it was like to be bullied. he was the bully, he did not get bullied. though -- to not get bullied sometimes you had to be one yourself . . . at least, that’s how he saw it. of course, sugimoto hardly locked like the type that could take care of himself. even the way he spoke was flat out dorky. 

smiling his usual, coy grin he answers. “well, that’s your problem. don’t let them make you nervous. you know, telling yourself not to be nervous is half the battle, after all.” there was no way that machimiya could relate on any level to this kind of social abuse, but he also wasn’t necessarily the most popular of all -- at least, not among other men. women enjoyed his company just fine. “maybe you should start only talking when you have something of meaning. if no one wants to listen, you might not be delivering what they want to hear.” considering that it was from the fighting dog of kure, it wasn’t
