Back to work. I made a number line in Braille that I was quite pleased with, you can basically build the line then write the numbers on the line below, the student did have fingers on both lines so I think it was more effective than a list of numbers although I’m now thinking a vertical list might work even better. I once did something similar and related it to a swimming pool ladder with the negative numbers being under water. Lots of our learning relies on visualisation and that can be difficult for a person without sight. You have to think of alternatives that represent the same information. I like to dive right in and I definitely get the most out of an activity by actually doing it. I have trouble paying attention 0 ability to retain information that I’ve heard a long lecture about. I can only pay attention if I’m moving or asking questions. I tend to fidget and get distracted. So I’m definitely NOT an auditory learner. Note taking helps a lot, as does discussion. So I can learn verbally. However, I always learn the most by actually DOING something. I get restless if I’m not. That’s why undergrad research is so important to me and so great...it’s really helped me to learn a lot!

So some of this blog will probably be geared toward my strategies as a tactile learner. Does anyone have any tips?
