A 70 year old hardworking man murdered by a man who is homeless and unemployed. People ask why I changed my tune recently and this is exactly why. Homeless advocates ignore the dangerous criminal element that is directly attached to homelessness, it’s a very naive perspective on the issue yet some persist to throw a blanket of sympathy over the matter. Im speaking out for my city and for the everyday citizen who have been victimized by homeless criminals. Often times, it’s petty theft, car break ins, etc but in this case it was murder. We have an obligation to take care of our Veterans, the mentally ill, children and the elderly. However, able bodied homeless drug addicts who have chosen to live a vagrant lifestyle and litter our city streets aren’t as deserving. In my years on the street, I’ve met a lot of people who could work if they wanted but choose not too. It may sound cold blooded but so was the killing of this innocent man. My perspective is centered to consider everyone not just the homeless.
