Tapestry diary - April 15 2025 to April 14 2026
I have no idea how to take a decent picture of my completed diary since it's longer than I am tall, haha!! So for now, here it is rolled up.
145 days into my tapestry diary!!! Now to warp my little mirrix again so tomorrow I can keep going.
The big teal one that says CHI is because I took a trip to Chicago (saw the ATA biennial!!!!) and couldn’t take my loom with me. So I skipped 3 days. When I got back I did the CHI over two rectangles plus a stripe of teal which is not in the normal rainbow I’d been doing for the stripes.
Two rectangles are referring to spotted lantern flies which I keep seeing more and more of :(
I should practice pick and pick more. The uppermost pick and pick is quite wonky, oops haha
The next chunk of my tapestry diary! :) Lots of flowers and leaf ones in here. Several Columbo related squares since I’ve been obsessed with it. And a bee that landed on my face! Some of them I can’t remember what they refer to if anything.
55 days of my tapestry diary 🙂 It looks a lot wavier than it is because I haven’t finished the back so there’s lumps. I don’t know when I’ll finish it though because tomorrow I warp a new one. Haven’t decided if I’ll use the Chloe again. I miss having the shedding device snd I kind of want a longer weaving height.
More diary entries. Today’s inspired by a lily that just opened. That pick snd pick one… I need more practice with it.
Tapestry diary, 19 days in. I’m doing 2 inch by 1 inch rectangles, and the fifth day I do the strip in between each row. I was going to do 2 inch squares but realized it would take too long for me to do daily so I halved it.

Hi :) I think I have most of my posts about it tagged as 'tapestry diary' but I may have forgotten to tag some. If you search my blog for 'diary' they should show up. Or just scroll through my blog since I haven't posted a ton of posts overall haha.
Tommye Scanlin is the weaver I saw doing tapestry diaries and is why I started mine. She has a book called Marking Time which is about her diaries and other textile/fiber artist's daily practices. She also has posts on her blog about her diaries too. She's been doing them for 17 years!!!
It's been really good for me. I've always resisted a daily practice in any art form I've done. This is the first one to stick. I only missed one day. I made sure to give myself easy days - every fifth day is a simple stripe instead of the square with the design. And any time I was rushed I just did a simple gradient or something instead of imagery. Which is fine because it's still practice and that's the point of it. Ideally I wanted to record something about my day but sometimes I don't have time/energy to think about it.
I've been thinking about doing a letter each day for the next year. But I'm afraid that'll be really difficult...
