Tapiooca Virtual Tutoring
While studying a foreign language, have you ever wished you had a native speaking shoulder angel? Like a little fairy that wouldn’t judge you, was always encouraging, and helped you practice? That’s how I felt about my teachers when I joined Tapiooca.
Tapiooca is a 1 on 1 personal tutoring company for Mandarin learners. Each session is 25 minutes long and takes place through Skype video chat. You can schedule lessons anytime during the day or night and choose which tutor you’d like based on a brief bio. It’s a Taiwanese company, so most (if not all) of the tutors are Taiwanese, but they’re happy to use simplified or traditional based on your preference.
I’ve found all the tutors I’ve booked to be friendly, patient, well-prepared, and encouraging. It’s a great opportunity to practice speaking in a safe space where you won’t be laughed at or met with disheartening blank stares.
Best of all, each lesson is CHEAP. Although you have to buy a package and can’t purchase single lessons (the smallest package is 8 lessons), it’s only $80 for 8 lessons. Plus there are sales all the time. Plus they offer two trial lessons for FREE. I haven’t found any other personal tutoring option as accessible yet professional and highly recommend Tapiooca to anyone interested in improving their Chinese.
