1) I think I may custom order a pin or two, they're very reasonably priced, but is it possible to get a clearer size guide with pins shown in comparison to each other and some nearby objects like a coin or something first? I want to get an idea of how the print looks from a distance. 2) Relatedly, is it possible to order in a custom font?

Hi,

A US quarter is .993 inches across, so the 1″ is approximately the size of a quarter. I don’t have images next to a coin; we do have images on all of the items showing it pinned to a blazer. As far as what they’re like in person with regards to visibility and print, here is a post by @spyderqueen of their pins, which are the 1″ pins. 

And yes, we would be glad to do a custom font; as with patches, something simple like switching the font adds $1 to an item for setup.

Idk, I don't like people to poop in front of me but this hasn't been an issue with my spouses, both of whom, to the best of my knowledge, poop daily? I guess it seems to me like "if you have the need to do smelly things, don't do them in front of me" is theoretically a pretty easily respected boundary based on my experience of people and relationships. YMMV tho. =P

Look, this is a bizarre fucking hill to die on.  Smell is not the only concern when it comes to vaping and you know it.  Couching it in “what ifs” about the small percentage of people who vape medicinally ignores both the vast swaths of people who don’t and the fact that everyone who vapes, no matter what substance for what reason, does so knowing that the science on the long-term health risks is at best inconclusive, largely because of all the papers funded by the vaping and e-cigarette industry with results that are shown in epidemiological review to be swayed by their conflict of interest.   

I don’t want it around me.  I don’t want it around my house.  I don’t want it around my future kids.  I don’t want my kids to grow numb to the sound of their father hacking up a lung the way I did. I don’t want them to know the terror of their parent coughing so hard they send their heart into arrhythmia, of huddling with their sibling in the dark waiting for an ambulance to finally, finally come.  Dismissing that concern as “YMMV” is fucking shitty.

Respect that boundary.

oh, man.  it really, truly is.  the fact that it’s so prevalent in the lesbian community is making me want to bang my head on something.  the way they talk as if lesbianism is the One True Way and that trans women are encroaching on their space and trans men are wayward children and non-binary people are just ‘confused’ is Not Good.  the fact that some of them are cool with trans people as long as they’re binary and they stay out of True Women’s spaces doesn’t make it better.

i’m seeing so much stuff that’s making me go ???? because DAMN??  

like, for instance:

as if non-binary people haven’t existed for millennia, as if we don’t have a culture of our own, as if we don’t have a right to Exist without people trying to punch holes in our sense of self.

also i’d like to talk about that, the ‘woke’ part.  i’m p sure that the 1% they’re talking about who use the label legitly are people who have a non-binary identity connected to religious or spiritual beliefs (like two-spirit people).  saying something like this is INCREDIBLY alienating??  they’re trying to be ‘woke’ by calling out ‘fake-woke’ people but in a round-about way they’re saying that POC don’t fit into the western world.  that western people (white people mostly) have a defined sense of man/woman and there’s no reason to deviate, but oh?  oh you’re native and you have Different Beliefs?  okay, sweetie, go ahead and sit in the corner over there and be you :)

like maybe i’m reading into this (i probably am) but at the same time, it’s not just comments like this.  anyone who continues to gatekeep “real” non-binary people vs. pretenders brings up some very real race issues, no matter how they spin it, and they need to be prepared to face that head-on.  if you’re a feminist and you’re okay with minimizing racial identities in order to make bold statements about the trans community, you better think long and hard about yourself.  trans people don’t exist in a vacuum.

I’m not sure if you’ve discovered Society At Large so much as dads in particular get weird about the idea of their female-assigned kids having adult interests. My parents are liberal as heck but my dad sort of bluescreened and sputtered and had to reevaluate reality when I told them I was working as a stripper ~12 yrs ago (my mom was surprisingly chill for being the one who grew up in the more conservative family.)

hah, you’re not wrong. my dad was actually pretty great about it when I started dating, and had boyfriends stay over/stayed late with them. we’re a bit of an anomaly, though, in that he’s a sole parent and he had to deal with a lot of the discussions that would stereotypically be ‘mother/daughter’ conversations, and I think that’s honestly done a lot to defuse a lot of the weirdness. plus it helps that we both find relationships intensely personal and the idea of actually talking about them to be mildly horrifying at best :v (which might sound oppressive but I genuinely don’t think it is; if either of us wanted to talk about these topics we would and have, it’s more a personal privacy comfort zone thing. when I first started dating someone I didn’t tell anyone for, like, a month! I like keeping that sort of thing For Me.)

we’ve even talked about writing smut before - I have a friend who actually makes a living off of it, and I’ve brought him up as a case study on why exactly it’s so unlikely writing as a career is unlikely to ever support me, and his reaction was exactly the same ‘that’s super weird but okay o_o’ that he ended up with at me writing things, so I do genuinely think it’s just the societal reaction to (technically, in my case, but still under the umbrella, I would argue) sex work. I definitely get a different reaction across people I know who have been immersed in fandom (or the romance industry) compared to people who genuinely do not realise it’s such a large market, which is interesting.
