The infinite tunnels pull us in with their symmetry. The ceiling lights guide our eyes to the horizon. The tiles and posters form patterns that please the eye. The echoes of rushing crowds, a flickering light, a train zooming by.

GIFs are the New Graffiti

Creative duo Guus ter Beek and Tayfun Sarier put a picture frame around an iPad, locked the screen to display a GIF, then taped the tablet to various walls and telephone booths around London.

  1. The Jil Sander exhibit, titled “An artistic interpretation of artisanal excellence,” opened at the company’s flagship store in Milan. The exhibition celebrates the Jil Bag and features artist Julia Hetta’s photographs of the bag-making tools. 

  2. Artists Tayfun Sarier and Guus ter Beek create giant stickers that resemble the Photoshop eraser for their Street Eraser project. The sticker forms the playful black-and-white checker pattern when applied to advertisements, graffiti and other signs.

  3. Disco indie-R&B.French disco Legend Cerrone remixed Haim’s "If I Could Change Your Mind". Listen to it via SoundCloud.

"Street Eraser" (2014) - Tayfun Sarier & Guus ter Beek The great analogue photographer Ansel Adams once said "Twelve significant photographs in one year is a good crop". Since the dawn of this digital era, mass production of imagery has been the arguably the greatest change to the medium. Altered images are everywhere. "Street Eraser" is a street art series found around the London area referencing the king pin of the digital age, photoshop. Started in March of 2014, it is the pet project of Weiden + Kennedy designers Tayfun Sarier and Guus ter Beek. Large stickers mimic the movement and look of the eraser tool found in photoshop, complete with the quintessential checkerboard background in the erasers wake. The pair post these gorilla style on larger advertisements, street signs, and even monuments. There are about as many interpretations for this project as there are tools in the photoshop repertoire.
