meet me on the west side | syj
ex!eric picks you up when you're drunk. i love clichés sure, you were wasted, but calling him across town at 1am was certainly not necessary, especially considering you had been broken up for four months.
you had been the one to bring up the topic of separating first. weeks of constant arguments about useless things led to him staying at work later and later until he barely came home at all just to avoid another fight. it was immature and excruciating and you finally hit your breaking point, opting to end your two-year-long relationship instead of trying to work it out anymore.
at first, it seemed like you made the right decision. you spent more time with your friends, you weren’t chewing your nails to the quick or crying yourself to sleep anymore with only your echoes to comfort you. but after the second month of coming home alone every day, you missed eric badly. everything about the way he took care of you or made you laugh, knowing that he probably didn’t care if he ever saw you again, knowing you would have to find someone else leaded your insides to the floor. you thought it would get easier with time, everyone said it would and yet every week seemed to get heavier without him. you had so many messages you typed and deleted instead of sending to him, so many pictures in your phone you couldn't get rid of.
of course, you didn’t know he felt arguably even worse than you. he can admit, most of the time it was him that started the arguments between you two, insecurities or impatience getting the best of him. he thought not coming home until you were asleep would help give the two of you some space. but he could never forget your eyes watering and your voice breaking when you said “you don’t even want to be around me anymore, so let’s just end it.”
as your explosive fights, screaming at each other turned into you walking out of the house "for air," which turned into you just not saying anything at all when he snapped at you, he knew it was too late but he couldn't stop. anything to get a reaction from you, to know you still had a fire in you to keep going. at least when you would leave the apartment and cry in your car he could knock on your window and get you to let him hold you, his own tears falling on your shoulder "i'm sorry" he would whisper "i promise i'll change." how many times did he promise that with a kiss to your temple? enough times to know he deserved all the agony when you walked out for the last time, and for once he had nothing to say.
so today, when he got a text from you saying “can you come get me?” he immediately thought it was a mistake, surely you had a new boyfriend and you mistakenly clicked his contact. as two minutes went by and you added a “please” he really started to worry, replying quickly.
[12:55] are you okay?
y/n🍬💓: just drink
y/n🍬💓: drunk
y/n🍬💓: can y pick me up?:( i
y/n🍬💓: im at the garage
y/n🍬💓: dont want to gon in ytheir taxi
he was already in his car after your second message. it didn’t matter why you called him of all people, he let you know he was on his way.
the garage. that stupid fucking bar he had picked you up from too many times after you’d fight and your friends tried to “empower you” or whatever -which only ended up with you drunk and crying the whole way home, apologizing and apologizing for things he made you feel bad for. he’d take your makeup off for you and put you in his clothes, holding you like you two would be fixed in the morning.
he pulled up and parked right in front of the fire hyrdrant in front of the bar. he didn’t even need to go inside the uselessly crowded venue because you were already outside. he spotted two of your girlfriends laughing with each other as one draped her jacket over your huddling figure on the disgusting ground. jeans, kitten heels and a tight top with a necklace he bought you allowed you to squat against the glass wall. you were clearly trying to stay awake which instantly pissed him off. not at you, but at your friends who were constantly trying to distract you from your problems (not that he was any better, but still.) he tried to not let it affect his tone but he couldn't hide the anxiety when he called your name.
you lifted your head and your eyes found him immediately, tear streaks from your eye makeup and all, you were still so angelic to him. you tried and failed to get up from the ground as he sped up to lift you off the ground. as soon as you were standing, you fell into him, arms around his waist and gripping his shirt as you whined his name. your friends gave each other knowing looks,
“she refused to take a cab and was convinced you were coming.”
he cradled the back of your hair like he used to and briefly thought of offering your friends a ride home but then he realized, 1. these weren't his girlfriend's friends anymore and 2. he never liked them anyway and they let you get fucked up so they can hitchhike for all he cares.
"it's fine. i'll take her home, you guys have fun or whatever." your eyes were closed and wet against the low neckline of his tank top he threw on in his haste to get you. he looked down at your pitiful state, you whined his name again in your half-sleep. he put his own jacket around you as your friend grabbed hers off of you like you were a coat rack before they hopped in the next cab.
"come on babe let's go home." he didn't mean for the old pet name to slip out but he couldn't help it when you looked so pretty and he'd missed you so much.
he walked you the ten feet to his car and helped you inside, used to the drill. as he ran over to the drivers side, making sure your seat belt was on (it wasn't) and reached behind you to get a bottle of water from the back pocket. unfortunately the pocket was empty because he hasn't had a passenger in his car since the day you ended things. he could tell by the nodding of your head and small shivers you needed water so he started the car and headed for the nearest gas station.
"gonna stop to get you some water okay?"
you whined "jus' wanna go home"
it broke his heart to be unsure whether you meant his place or yours. his apartment- the apartment you two had once shared was 15 minutes out, and he was already on the way there.
"alright babe i'll take you home."
the short ride to his apartment seemed like it stretched on for a tortuous amount of time, every glance over at your miserable figure took a day off his life. eric had to force himself to not think about the rage inside him that your loser friends let you drink so much, let you sit on the ground, let you go home with him- the guy they all supposedly hated so much.
admittedly he often thought they were right to hate him. he helped you in situations like this but where was he the rest of the time? he constantly left you alone, constantly got defensive when you asked where he spent all his time, constantly made you feel like you were dramatic for asking him questions he didn't want to answer.
truthfully he didn't know where the avoidance came from. were you a reminder of another thing in his life he couldn't do right? every time he came home too late to you still awake, the look in your eyes trying so desperately to make things work... he couldn't bear it, so he would just come home later the next day.
he wasn't even doing anything wrong. most of the time he was just driving around or drinking with his friends (who told him to get his shit together which made him avoid them too). he would get off work and wander around, trying not to think of whatever last argument you'd had- the ones where he would make you feel like the problem, you'd cry and he would have to leave. he'd feel guilty and come back starting everything over again.
he knew he was too jealous, he was too rash, he was too impatient. the more he saw you try to change to make him happy the worse he felt.
the last conversation you'd had you said "i tried so hard to be perfect for you and it still isn't good enough." he wanted to say "you are perfect." or " you're more than i deserve."
but instead he said "i never asked you to do that."
another nail in the coffin or whatever they say.
finally he pulled up to his complex, from past experience he knew he could get you up the one flight of stairs. and you seemed to be a little more awake now- which made him slightly nervous that you'd call the police for bringing you to his house.
"hey, you alright? my place was closer, let's get you some water." he unbuckled your seat and briefly made eye contact with your teary ones before you looked down first.
eric took this as his opportunity to get out and open your door for you. he put his hand out for you and you took it, gripping tighter as you stumbled out of the seat.
"i got you." he said, trying not to let a pathetic flame of hope ignite in him that he could have a second chance at this.
as he guided you up the stairs and unlocked the door with you trying to bear weight onto the wall instead of him he helped you get your shoes off as you looked around the entrance, noticeably more alert.
"it's all the same, i know." he spoke out loud for you.
he hadn't changed a thing since you left. for a while, a part of him thought you would realize you made a mistake and would come back and scold him for moving the star-shaped mirror in the entrance or throwing out the plant his mom had gotten you- the one you couldn't bear to look at in a place that wasn't with him. so he didn't touch anything.
"oh."
his chest felt hollow as he led you to the couch.
"i'll get you some water."
you closing your eyes to avoid looking at your old living space. he set the water down in front of you and paused
"are you asleep?"
you opened one eye.
"oh, i'll be right back"
you sipped your water, wondering how you let this happen to you. the lamp you bought together was turned off, the tv was playing MLB highlights and all the pairs of shoes in the entrance were his, clearly no other girl stayed here. not that it mattered but it made you feel slightly better.
eric returned with some clothes and makeup cleanser and pads .. your makeup cleanser. he sat next to you like he used to.
"lay back, i'll help you."
"you don't have to do that."
"i know."
you leaned your head against the back of the couch and closed your eyes.
"i'm sorry for calling you." you felt his fingers gently wipe your mascara and all of the streaks off your face.
"don't be sorry. i'm glad i could help"
i'm still in love with you, i'm a dumbass, give me another chance.
his fingers were taking extra time on your face and you knew it. you let him.
"i have skincare stuff in the bathroom too and a toothbrush."
you paused.
"honestly i think maybe i should uber home, thanks for picking me up-"
"wait-" he held your shoulders rising from the couch, then immediately let go. "wait, just stay, i'll sleep on the couch, i'll sleep in my car! please don't go home. i'm worried about you still tipsy in an uber or at home."
"i've been doing it fine for four months"
he froze. "well.. you don't have to tonight. i'm here, you can leave in the morning."
"eric..." you could already tell what he was going to say
"listen, i fucked up. a lot. like every day when we were together. i know i did, i'm not trying to keep you here to get you to forgive me i just-please let me take care of you just tonight."
you scoffed, "why? so you can feel better about yourself?" you were too drunk for this conversation but not too drunk to get angry about him trying too late to be good to you.
"yeah- i mean no! no, just. i'm not-i know i don't deserve another chance. i know that but i want you to be okay just tonight. i couldn't take it if i let you go home and something happened to you."
against your will, hot, angry tears welled up in your eyes.
"i'm tired eric. don't do this to me again."
this was almost worse than not seeing you. having you here like this, crying because of him again and this time, he couldn't kiss it better, he couldn't hold you, you wouldn't wake up in his bed again. it wasn't his place anymore.
"why did you call me?"
"i don't know."
"i know that's not true"
"well what do you want me to say? that i miss you? that i love you still? i do. it doesn't change that i can't be with you. i can't-" you clenched your fists as your voice broke. "it was a mistake."
he choked on his breath before continuing.
"it doesn't have to be a mistake. we haven't talked in months- i. i've reflected on a lot. all the bullshit i was avoiding before... i'm dealing with it. i need you. i want to be better for you i'm trying to be better for you... please."
you looked in his eyes, underlined by evidence of lack of sleep but sincere.
"you say that now eric-"
"now and i'll keep saying it, i'll keep showing you. i don't want anyone but you. i wasn't good to you i know that. we can.. we can work on it together so i can be what you need. please."
it was a tempting offer, he had an unfair advantage with all of your pictures still hanging up in every corner of the room, he was so close and smelled just like you remembered.
"we... we can talk more in the morning."
"okay, okay." he let out the breath he'd been holding in. "i'll get the bed ready for you."
you took extra long freshening up and changing into his clothes before bracing yourself for stepping into your old bedroom where he fluffed the pillows. only his LEDs were on and the room was tidy but you stood in the doorway for an inordinate amount of time.
"how do you sleep here every night?" was all you said, but he knew exactly what you meant.
"honestly, i don't half the time. sunwoo let's me bum on his couch a lot. it's hard to be here at night alone"
you both looked at each other before he awkwardly moved from the bed towards the door
"make yourself comfortable, let me know if you need anything else."
you stiffly walked towards the bed, your back still too the door. you were sober enough now for the sight of him to be unbearable again.
"goodnight, eric"
"goodnight." he lingered for a moment before shutting the door, leaving you in the blue-stained room.
you lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, the dark blue hue of the room casting shadows that stretched on with your thoughts. the hum of his air conditioner was the only other thing distracting you as you replayed the night's events in your mind. you were really drunk, but you also knew he was the only one you trusted to take you home in that state. even if he didn't pick up.
the night stretched on and his presence permeated every inch of the room, lingering in your system, a mix of comfort and discomfort that you couldn't shake.
you closed your eyes, wondering what tomorrow would be like. could you even find the strength to face him again? or would you both just continue to drift in this uncertain space, not moving forward or necessarily backwards?
you turned over on the bed, realizing you naturally went to "your" side. the clock read 3:44am, meaning you had been laying here for two hours.
four months honestly wasn’t a long time, maybe with more time. maybe in a year, you could be fully over him. maybe it hurt so bad now so that you could overcome the pain and move on to something else, something that would fill the hole he left. seal the cracks in your heart. hearing him admit his fault (a miracle), and that he still loved you… you brought a pillow over your face to drown out all the noise, but the smell of him suffocated you. you’d never be rid of him. something would remind you of him in everyone you met, everywhere you went. you knew that, but would it be worth it to try again, knowing there was a possibility it would end again? could you bear it?
suddenly there was a knock on the door.
"come in" you said automatically
he stood in the door frame, seeming unsure, unlike the steely expression, the clenched jaw and squared shoulders he bore during the last weeks of your relationship.
"i can't sleep, figured you couldn't either. thought i'd at least ask if i could just sit with you."
even in the dark, he saw your small nod.
you'd never be rid of him, for better or worse.

despite being so close with all your members, only two ever knew the reality behind your "picture-perfect" relationship with choi hyunsuk — sunwoo and juyeon.
in hindsight, the chosen two had some of the loudest mouths in theboyz, so telling them was nothing short of one of the few things you'd ever absolutely regret doing.
it's a chilly autumn night, all members but sangyeon sat in the living room for the group's designated weekly movie night. hours of practices for the upcoming album had been taking a toll on the leader, so his absence was excused - just this once.
all eleven pairs of eyes were focused on the big screen, an hour and fifteen minutes into a new american action movie.
tonight, focusing was particularly difficult for you. today was the one-month mark of your breakup with your ex, hyunsuk. you'd been together for a little over a year, ending on terms of "we're too busy, i can't give you the attention you deserve," - from him, of course. if it'd been up to you, you would still be with the rapper, however, you'd felt the attraction fleeing, and had been bracing yourself for the eventual devastation. the split had come alot sooner than you were hoping for, the pain hitting you a million times harder than you and your members were expecting.
being the only girl in an all-boy group, especially one with the name the boyz, has had its flaws since the beginning. being added to the lineup after hwall left, you had long braced yourself for the expected years of critique and hate you'd receive - and while it did come, for a long time at that, your members made it all the more bearable.
you found yourself gravitating moreso toward sunwoo and juyeon in times of gossiping needs. throughout your relationship, the two were the ones who knew the most of what happened behind the pretty pictures on your private instagram. all the arguments, petty disagreements, moments of solidarity,
your first time.
they knew all about it.
apparently you'd been so zoned out, for so long, that the movie was now over. the boys opted to delve into their own side conversations, your attention caught by the boys sitting on either side of you, eric and sunwoo.
"that sex scene was horrid.. why'd they think it was good enough to put on the big screen?" eric complained, his hand absentmindedly moving to tuck a strand of fallen hair behind your ear. a teasing glint appeared in the older boy's eye, gaze hardly flickering over your zoned-out face before clearing his throat. "kinda like how dirty hyunsuk did our y/n their first time,"
the mention of your least favorite person alive caught your attention, eyes widening upon realizing just what sunwoo had said - but it was too late, everyone had gone silent.
"sunwoo-ya.." you softly spoke, eyes wide with fear. juyeon's head quickly turned to where you sat, a teasing look also coming from him. "does no one else know, y/nie?" sunwoo let out a small chuckle upon seeing your shocked face. "it's about time you tell them, too, isn't it?"
"y/n," changmin interrupted, "is this something you want us to know?" the boy's eyes softened upon reaching your saddened face, your head quick to softly shake no. "if y/n doesn't want us to know, then you two better drop it. now." changmin sternly said, eyes hardened as he looked at the two.
"c'mon, bunny," juyeon began, calling you the petname they'd given you, based off your unofficial representative animal. "not everyone can have a good first time. it's common to have a bad one... even as bad as yours was," he quickly added the last part, making you groan, slamming your face into a pillow to wither away in shame.
"guys, stop. it's not funny." jacob now intervened, standing from his spot on the floor to crouch in front of your hiding figure, eyes searching for your face.
"it's not funny for her, it's embarrassing for him, though. that jerk introduced himself to us like he was hot shit,"
"bro couldn't even last two minutes!" sunwoo interrupted juyeon, the two bursting in a cackle. this act caused the dams to break, tears now streaming down your cheeks. you silently cried as the pair rolled in laughter, eric taking notice once your body started to shake with every sob.
the youngest's eyes widened, moving his arms to capture your trembling body with a protective hug. "don't worry, noona. they're just being idiots. nothing that happened with that asshat is your fault, okay?"
"c-can you take me to o-oppa?" your shaky voice cracked, the boy understanding even through your heartbreaking sobs. "okay, bunny. i can."
eric's eyes burned holes into sunwoo and juyeon's still-laughing figures, cursing them under his breath as he carried your tired body to the furthest room down the hall - sangyeon's.
the eldest had been locked away in his room to retrieve all of his spent energy from the week. his mellow music playlist flowed through the space, moody lighting adding to the comforting ambience. the lee boy was clad in baggy sweats, only a black wifebeater to accompany the at-home look.
his eyes drifted from his book upon hearing a soft knock on the door, clearing his throat before granting entry. his eyes softened on your curled-up body, looking to eric for an answer to his silent question.
"sunwoo and juyeon hyungs brought up you-know who, and told us about a secret y/n shared with them about.. um.. something very private," the youngest explained, gently placing your body on the eldest's bed.
sangyeon's arms moved you towards his warm body, mouthing a thank you to eric before turning his full attention towards you - his pride and joy.
"my sweet girl.. what happened, hm?" he asked, upmost care and worry present in his voice. you sniffled, face nestling closer towards his broad chest. his soft lips pressed a lingering kiss to the crown of your head, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat right beside your ear.
"they're so m-mean," you softly spoke, voice slightly groggy from holding in your tears.
"what'd they do, bunny?"
you stayed silent for a while, working to steady your uneven breaths. "promise you won't laugh?"
"never, pretty. now, can you tell me what happened? who i need to scold?"
you took in a shallow breath, "hyunsuk took my virginity a few months ago.." sangyeon held his breath at this, eyes closing as the smallest pang of jealousy struck his heart. "it was really bad, oppa. i wish i never did it with him."
"surely it can't-"
"he finished and i had barely gotten wet."
a soft chuckle escaped sangyeon's lips at your interruption. "you said you wouldn't laugh!" you exclaimed with a pout, moving your head to look up into his eyes, meeting your teary gaze with his soft one for the first time tonight.
a soft expression rested on his face, hands carefully moving as to not scare you, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. "i'm sorry pretty, i'm not laughing at you." you slightly frowned as you sat up, thighs comfortably tossed over his as he sat against his headboard. "can't believe that bastard messed up so bad with my angel, though."
anxiety creeped over your shoulder, causing a wave of nervousness to wash over your otherwise rational mind. "just.. guess i was never good enough for him," you softly spoke, eyes cast down to the grey comforter, fingers fidgeting with your sweatpants.
"y/n, look at me, pretty girl," sangyeon was quick to say, softly grabbing your chin to look at him when you didn't. his eyes searched yours when you wouldn't make eye contact, "bunny."
your eyes reluctantly met his own, shying away under his stern yet comforting gaze. "that little boy has no idea what he lost, you know that, right? you don't need to settle for someone so.. laughable as he is, right?" the male softly spoke, never breaking eye contact, even when he searched for the nicest way to insult the choi boy.
"what if i'm never.." you trailed off, "i want to be good at.. that stuff.." you shyly spoke, unsure of how to enter this unfamiliar territory with the male. the boys had always been so open with their sexual encounters — you'd always opted to stepping away when those conversations began, though. you'd noticed sangyeon had never participated, either, often opting for sitting in silence, simply observing.
"what if everyone i'm ever with is as bad as he was..?"
sangyeon's eyes held an even deeper level of concern for you, if that was even possible. an idea flashed through his mind, though he immediately fought it off. no way that would ever happen.
the male sighed, tapping the hand that'd traveled down to settle on your thigh twice, gaining your attention. "hm?" you asked, the whiff of a smile grazing your puffy lips as he opened his arms, granting you access to sit with on him.
you'd often find yourself in this position with the boy, always so innocent and so warm. your legs spread over his own, straddling the male as you let your arms drape around his shoulders. his hands comfortably sat upon your hips, your face nuzzled into his neck.
"it's hard to find someone as bad as he sounds, y/nie." he finally spoke, thumbs absentmindedly rubbing circles on your hip bones. "you're allowed to take your time in finding a partner for.. that stuff, okay? no one is rushing you, bunny."
you gently nodded, sighing as you breathed in his natural scent. "i don't want it to be just anyone, though.. i want it to be someone i trust with my entire heart,"
"hm.. i see you've thought a lot about it, huh?" he asked, struggling through his own internal fight to tear away from the thoughts washing over him.
you stayed silent for a bit, mind racking through your current wave of fast-paced thoughts. you softly bit the inside of your cheek, wondering if he'd throw you off himself if you revealed the dirty fantasies you'd had with him as the main star.
"only..." you began, quickly shutting up, realizing how otherworldly your answer was. "only who, bunny?"
"i trust you the most, oppa.." sangyeon almost didn't catch your words.
your eyes were screwed shut when he grabbed your shoulders, pulling you away from him so he could look you in the eyes once again.
you couldn't tell, but his heart was thumping like crazy.
"what'd you just say, sweet girl? don't think i quite heard you.." your cheeks burned red, looking everywhere but the man you'd basically just admitted you wanted to have sex with.
"i shouldn't have said anythin-"
"no!" he said, hurriedly. his eyes softened as he saw you get startled, body releasing the sudden tension it felt. "i want you to tell me what you just said. you can do that for me, can't you, pretty girl?"
you softly bit your lip, the action watched by sangyeon's widened eyes. "i want you to teach me.. how to be good in that stuff.." you softly admitted, cheeks yet again burning.
sangyeon could feel a pooling heat beginning to brew in his lower stomach, your innocence beginning to be too much for him to handle.
"you have no idea what you're telling me, bunn-"
"no, no, i do!.. can you fuck me, please, oppa?" you took a pause after your, yet again, nearly silent sentence. "wan' see if i can be good for someone.. want you to be the one to show me,"
the innocent voice was so, so contradicting to the nastiest words he'd ever heard come from your lips. those plush, beautiful lips he'd fallen head over heels for the day he met you all those years ago. his pupils were blown wide, hands now firmly holding your hips to his own, hoping you couldn't feel his bulge growing underneath you with every passing moment.
but you could, you felt all of it. his breath hitched, mouth opening and closing when he realized he had nothing to say, his eyes trained on your lips.
he stayed silent for a minute — but seeing as you could practically feel his answer, and the wetness beginning to dampen your panties hidden beneath your sweats, you ground your hips in a testing move, biting your lip harder at the slight friction.
the move brought sangyeon back to consciousness, his grip becoming even stronger on your hips. "don't do that, bunny,"
"why, oppa? don't you want to help bunny out?" you felt a sudden splash of confidence, leaning your face even closer to his own. his eyes failed to stay on your own, faltering to look at your pretty, tempting lips.
"y'have no idea what you're doing, bunny." he said, his voice slightly shaky, deeper, as he worked to control his nerves.
"mhm.. that's why i need you to teach me.. please, oppa? i'll be so good for you," you teasingly spoke, becoming restless as your arms hooked around his neck.
"i can't- we can't do this, y/n-" his words were interrupted with a soft groan, your hips having moved over his own yet again — the male able to feel the slightest warmth radiating from your core. his grip on your sides tightened an impossible amount, eyes fully trained on your own. "careful, sweet girl. y'gotta be real careful right now,"
"don' wanna.." you frowned, the growing ache in your lower abdomen overtaking any rationality you had left. you'd always felt most attracted to the leader, having to hide your feelings since the day he vowed to protect you - he'd always had a sense of dominance over you, something you always seemed to search for in your ex. "please oppa," you softly begged, "want you.. want it so bad,"
the sound which escaped from sangyeon's was one of the most beautiful you'd ever heard - a groan which rumbled from the deepest part of himself, letting his head fall into the crook of your neck. "want me to show you, bunny? hm? want oppa to fuck you like that little coward couldn't?" he all but growled, a mewl escaping from you at the way he spoke to you.
you let yourself grind against his crotch as a reply, sangyeon landing a sharp slap to your ass. "silly girl," he laughed menacingly, lifting his head, eyes once again landing on your own. you squirmed under his gaze. "bunny so impatient, hm?" he asked, landing another slap on the other cheek. you squealed, scrunching your face. "can't have me 'til you speak, bunny. gotta hear your pretty voice, 'tell me i can do this to you, hm?"
you softly grunted, eyes beaming to his pretty lips. "please, oppa.. do whatever you wanna," you sound so, so helpless. it's such a pretty sight for the older. "wan' be your good girl, please.."
his eyes held a fire you'd never seen, "always my good girl bunny." he said, letting his eyes fall on your lips once your hips gave another push towards his own. "will you let oppa kiss you?" you instantly nodded, the boy no longer hesitating as he leaned in, lips finally crashing against your own.
a muffled moan came from you two, tongues intertwined as the male now helped you grind against his clothed erection. he no longer had to hide the effect you had on him, adjusting the way he sat so you could feel him even more. your tongues collided, teeth softly knocking against the others' as you meekly lost the fight for dominance - not that you'd wanted to win anyways.
you pulled away from the kiss with a whine, needing air. the boy only tugged your chest closer to his own, leaving a wet trail of open-mouthed kisses on the side of your neck. you tipped your head to the side, granting his lips more access. it didn't take long for the male to find that special, untouched spot on your neck, grinning into your soft skin once a louder groan escaped you, the male making a mental note of how cute your noises were - he was already addicted.
one of your hands lifted to tug at his hair, the other dropping to scratch at his shoulder. the surrounding air felt almost suffocating, in the best way possible. you needed to be closer, though.
you tapped at his shoulder, "oppa," causing the male to immediately pull away. "shit- are you okay? do you want to st-"
"want more, please?" you all but frowned, feeling pathetic for how turned on you'd already gotten. by now hyunsuk would've finished.
he leaned his head back, screwing his eyes shut. "y'have no idea what you do to me, pretty."
sangyeon sat up, pulling his tank over his head, leaving his broad shoulders and chiseled abdomen for your viewing pleasure. you let your curious hands feel over his stomach, your decorated nails leaving a nice trail along his burning skin. "can i take this off, pretty?" he said, tugging at your black, skin-tight tank. you nodded, lifting your arms as he slowly tugged it off your body, a deep sigh leaving his throat when he saw you hadn't worn a bra.
"dirty girl, hm?" he said, hands coming up to cup your breasts. you gasped, the foreign feeling causing your already hardened nipples to pebble impossibly more. "no bra? were probably planning to let me touch you tonight, hm? wanted to make it easy for me?" his somewhat degrading words had more of an affect on you than you'd thought, yet another pretty sound escaping your lips as you arched closer to him. his hand slapped your ass once again, tugging you closer to let his mouth latch onto one of your nipples.
you let out a breathy curse, throwing your head back at the new sensation he was bringing you. his tongue expertly flicked over the bud, leaving a kiss before switching to the other nipple. you couldn't help but to grind into him again, feeling his lips fall into a smirk at the motion. "what's wrong, pretty? why you so fidgety?"
"want you down there, oppa.. please," you frowned, eyes starting to grow teary at his still smirking face.
"where, bunny? where 'you want me?" he asked, hooded eyes looking up at your dazy expression. his hand quickly moved to cup your area, instantly groaning at the warmth radiating through your sweats. "couldn't be here, hm?"
you pushed your hips into his grasp, "please, oppa.. hurts.." you couldn't wipe the frown off your face at this point, now desperately bucking your cunt into his hand.
he sighed, tugging the waistband of your pants down, eyes widened as he saw how soaked you'd gotten. "pretty girl so wet for me?"
you hummed, standing on your knees to help him get the clothing off. you sat on him once more, whimpering when he pressed a firm thumb to your core. "so sensitive," his eyes searched yours, silently demanding you to make eye contact with him. he rubbed small, slow circles, relishing in the way you tried to hold back your pretty noises.
deciding his patience was running short, he quickly slipped his fingers past the destroyed barrier, thumb pressing directly on the bundle of nerves that'd never been touched. "fuck, bunny. you're soaked f' me," he groaned, shifting his hand so now his middle finger slid through your puffy lips, smearing the pools of arousal around.
"p-please," you whined, battling with the urge to shut your eyes and crash your face into his chest. "please what, pretty? gotta use your words, remember?"
"please, more, sir," the name slipped out unconsciously, mind too driven by lust to feel embarrassed. sangyeon on the other hand, loved it. a menacing expression appeared on his face, adding another finger to the mix. "gonna let sir fuck you silly, hm? teach you how to only be good for me?"
you immediately nodded, crashing your lips onto his as you shyly began grinding on his fingers, desperate for any and all stimulation.
the sensation was more overwhelming than anything you'd felt before - between failed attempts at making yourself finish with your small fingers and the clearly failed, unsatisfying experience with hyunsuk, sangyeon's touch was quick to send you to another realm.
your hips were quick to pick up the pace, rutting on his two fingers as the kiss grew wetter. sangyeon casually introduced a third, hand shifting so he could begin stretching you for him. you whined at this, hips stuttering at the intrusion.
"f-fuck," you softly gasped against his swollen lips, hips softly beginning to bounce against his inserted middle finger. "mm, nasty mouth on my bunny, hm? where'd you learn such dirty words from?" sangyeon asked, eyes peering at your bouncing figure. "had dreams wi- with oppa. learned them there," you gasped as he inserted a second, the male feeling your walls begin to pulsate, signaling your close release.
"yeah? what'd oppa do in your dreams?"
"went for a long time," you gasped yet again, "oppa's cock s'big, couldn't fit.. made me go d-dumb," your jaw remained slack, a coil in your lower abdomen bubbling like never before, "feel- feel so warm, s'weird,"
sangyeon chuckled, "pretty girl ready to come for the first time? ready to come all over sir's fingers like the pretty little slut she is? think you'll be ready for my cock?"
the degrading words and cloudy headspace you were in made it easy to reach your end - body stilling over sangyeon's body, slightly shaking as his fingers pushed you over the edge, not stopping until you flinched away from overstimulation.
"messy, messy girl," the male tsked, landing another harsh slap to your ass. you gasped, body jerking into his own. "'s t'much,"
sangyeon laughed. "ah, ah, bunny. we're not stopping 'til your dumb from sir's cock, remember? gotta teach you how to be good for me, right?"
you whined, reluctantly nodding your head as you knew this wasn't your limit - your pussy becoming slicker with his reminder.
his fingers lightly tapped at your hips, your shaky figure holding itself up as he slid off his soaked sweats and boxers, leaving him bare under you. your panties were nearly transparent with how wet you'd become, staying on.
your heavy eyes widened upon seeing the male's part - it looked heavy. sangyeon chuckled at your silence, hooded eyelids running over your bare figure. "you can take a picture later bunny, promise.. right now, need to feel your perfect pussy around me," he said, spreading your lips impossibly more, finger gently running between your sensitive folds. "don' know how 'ts gonna fit," you brokenly spoke, eyes fixated on the near snake he'd been hiding all this time.
he smiled, "don't worry pretty, oppa will make it fit. perfect girl's the perfect size for me, hm? gonna fit like a glove," he said, gripping your waist to hover you over his cock, signaling you to hold the base, positioning you to sit on it. you gently rubbed the tip around your wetness, the male groaning as it got caught on your swollen clit. "needa feel my precious bunny now, hm? think you're ready to sit on it?"
you bit your lip in anticipation, sangyeon able to feel your hesitation, deciding to distract you as he moved you himself - desperate to finally feel you squeezing him. the male grabbed your chin, forcing your eyes away from where you were about to connect, smashing your lips against his in a wet, teeth-clashing kiss. you softly whined at him biting your bottom lip, sangyeon's hands on your hips quickly slamming you down on his cock. if his mouth hadn't been guarding your own, your scream would've been heard by the others.
he moaned, "fuck, pretty. so fuckin' tight around me." he harshly breathed out, eyes shutting as your pussy squeezed him oh so tight. your breathing turned shallow and quick, tension high and wetness dripping. "sir feel 'so good" you softly slurred out, the boy smiling at your already fucked-out expression.
"bunny can't take it? what happened to being my good little slut?" he asked, landing another slap to your ass, soothing it after. you moaned at the impact, eyes dazed and mouth parted. he took two fingers, tracing your bottom lip before inserting them to your mouth, pressing down on your tongue as you made eye contact with him.
"sexy fuckin' girl," he grinned, "ready to be all dumb on sir's cock, aren't ya? all you were made for, right?" you couldn't help but to agree, whines muffled because of his intrusion. "please," you managed to slur out, another smile showing on the boy's face as he wrapped his free arm around your hips, bouncing you on his cock as he thrusted in.
eventually he used both sets of hands, eyes rolled to the back of his head at the feeling of your tight cunt, seeming to swallow him whole. your tits bounced with every thrust, his lips occupied with your own - bitten and red, slick with both of your spit combined. he swore he could feel your drool falling where your bodies connected, making it even messier - if that could be possible.
small whines fell from your lips with every thrust, no thoughts besides sangyeon sangyeon sangyeon invading your mind. the male realized this, a cruel smile on his face. "baby's all dumb, isn't she? can't feel a thing besides my cock." he spoke degradingly, chuckling darkly when you immediately nodded your head at lightning speed.
"fuck. squeezin' me so tight, bunny. pretty girl gonna cum soon? ready to cum all because of sangyeon oppa?"
"yes sir, yes sir, please please-" you quickly spat out, voice breaking with how hoarse it'd become, non-stop grunts and whines filling the space. "tell me how much you want it,"
"please- wan' it s'bad, need t'cum.. wan' cum on sir's huge cock," you spoke on his lips, sangyeon grabbing a hold of your chin yet again, pushing your face back to make you look at him. "need you looking at me when you cream on my cock, pretty. you can do that, can't you?"
your eyes lolled closed, snapping wide open when you felt a slap to the face. he'd slapped you.
"you liked that, didn't you?" sangyeon laughed again, looking at you with those damned hooded eyes. "nasty fuckin' girl, i felt that perfect pussy clench around me," he menacingly smiled, landing another slap to your cheek, laughing once he felt yet another clench. "at least try to hide it, hm?"
you shook your head, eyes open as your gaze locked into his own. "please sir wan' cum so bad," you whined, pussy uncontrollably clenching as your legs began to shake. "eyes on me." he spoke, your head shaking yes. "good girl, now finish on me. use me." he spoke, moving you even faster over his member, groaning once he felt the hardest clench yet, feeling even more liquid gush down his cock as he began to find his own.
you whimpered as you came down from your high, still finding yourself bouncing on his cock. "'s too much," you softly said, head landing in his neck. "too fuckin' bad, need cum in this pretty pussy," he groaned, "ruin her f'r everyone else, only perfect f'me,"
you clenched again, the action finally bringing sangyeon over the edge. "fuckfuckfuck-" he whined, bringing your body to a halt as he stuffed you to the brim, riding out his high with a few particularly harsh thrusts.
all you could hear in the space was your combined heavy breathing. the scent of sweat and sex made the space feel the tiniest bit stuffier - but all you could focus on was the warmth wrapped around your figure. you kept your eyes closed, sangyeon placing what seemed like a million soft kisses wherever he could reach. so perfect, so pretty for me, you did so fucking good were just some of the praises that fell from his lips, the boy feeling your smile on his skin. he let you sit there for a while, fingers rubbing small shapes onto the small of your back, waiting to feel you completely relax so he could care for you.
"think you can get off, pretty? needa clean ourselves up, hm?" he asked with the gentlest voice possible - completely contrasted to the way he was speaking to you mere minutes ago. you hummed in agreement, inhaling when he told you so your intimates could finally disconnect. you let out a small whine when you felt his cum dripping out of you, the boy chuckling as he picked you up, princess-style carrying you to his bathroom.
he gently sat you on the sink, grabbing a clean washrag and wetting it with warm water, softly cleaning around your still bare body, trying to not overwhelm you. you let your eyes roam over his figure, admiring him. once he finished wiping the both of you down, he signaled towards the toilet. "you need to try and use it, okay? need you to stay healthy." he helped you off the countertop, "i'll go get you new pajamas, okay? come out when you're ready for bed."
after a moment of disassociating in silence, you opened the door, only to find sangyeon changing his sheets, wearing another pair of sweats. he turned his head at the sound of the door shutting, eyes smiling as he looked at your face, ignoring your still bare figure. he pointed at the oversized shirt and boxers he'd set out for you. "you can sleep in here if you'd like, bun. wouldn't want you alone after the day you've had." he softly smiled, focus set back to making his bed.
you nodded as if he was looking, quickly moving towards the clothes. they carried his scent, one that had never failed at leaving a smile on your face. his back stayed turned as you changed, despite all he'd done to you. "mkay, done." you softly spoke, sangyeon's eyes softening once he looked at you. "beautiful as ever."
as you both did when you cuddled, your smaller body automatically placed itself curled into his own, chest facing chest. his arms wrapped around your waist protectively, while one of your hands played with his ear while the other wrapped around his arm. he placed a small kiss on your forehead, starting to feel your breathing growing steadier, more relaxed.
"oppa," your small voice broke the comfortable silence, his fingers now busy playing with your hair. "yes, pretty?"
"what does this mean?" you asked, eyes remaining closed as the drowsiness began to overcome you.
"whatever we want it to mean, bun. don't worry your pretty head right now, hm? we'll figure it all out." was his way of telling you i've had deep feelings for you since we met.
you softly sighed, a content smile appearing on your lips. "mkay."
he placed another kiss on your forehead, letting this one linger a bit more. "i love you, pretty."
"i love you, oppa."

sunwoo x reader
when you notice a new and cute barista working at your favorite cafe, disappointingly, your first impression is that he's just a flirt. but, once his eyes land on you, he's an absolute mess, unable to come up with a single pick-up line.
genre: cafe au, loser barista sunwoo, reader who likes to tease, flirting (sometimes successful), flowers and iced chai lattes <3, confessions, getting together, kissing notes: surprise! word count: 6k
There’s a certain ambience that you’ve always adored when it comes to cafes. There’s the familiar hiss of the coffee machine as well as the soothing chatter of the customers–you like to eavesdrop on some of their conversations for the fun of it. Then, there’s the warm lighting and the gorgeous decorations such as vases full of well-kept plants.
Oh, and there’s a really cute barista right there behind the counter.
A new barista, one that you’ve never seen before. You’ve been coming to this cafe for years, so much that you’ve even become close friends with the staff and have practically tried everything on the menu. Well, except for the experimental concoction that Eric, one of the baristas you do know, attempts to convince you to try. You’d much rather not be poisoned, thank you very much.
But this barista, whom you can’t even get a glimpse of his nametag from where you’re standing, is… well, if you can’t say cute again, then he’s certainly a captivating sight. His hair curls slightly at the ends, falling over his face in the loveliest way. His eyes are bright and caring as he listens to the customer’s order.
And then you feel your heart skip a beat at his smile. He smiles gorgeously. Perhaps you’ve never seen such a perfect man in your life. He even scrunches his nose slightly as he converses with the woman in front of him. You shut your eyes momentarily and take a long, deep breath.
You wonder if this is what love at first sight feels like.
Still, the cute barista with an even cuter smile is so close yet so far–with the only barrier being… the line of people in front of you. Normally, you wouldn’t mind waiting, but this–this is kind of important.
You’re snapped out of your thoughts when you hear a high-pitched laugh. You look up, wondering if it oddly came from that man when you realize that it’s actually from the customer he’s talking to. The woman is giggling uncontrollably as the barista tells her a joke. She even covers her face, as if she’s flustered, and then he–he winks.
You can see the sparkle in his eyes as he watches the customer’s shy reaction before he waves her goodbye to pick up her drink on the other side of the counter.
You feel your hopeful smile drop.
The next customer arrives, and you watch carefully. It seems normal at first as she tells him her order. But then, that very same charming smile appears on his lips as he seems to be complimenting her hair. And just like some sort of cycle, that customer starts giggling too, even reaching over to lightly punch him on the shoulder. And instead of questioning her action, he only seems to grow more confident.
You turn to the side and catch a glimpse of Eric, staring in absolute disgust. You start to join in on the same expression.
So he’s one of those types of guys–the type to flirt with whoever comes his way without paying attention to their actual feelings. You sigh, disappointed. What were you expecting?
Suddenly, your phone lights up. It’s a message from a friend that you were supposed to meet at this place.
i can’t find the cafe :(
You stare in disbelief at your phone before typing back.
??? ok, i’ll stand outside so you can see me
You take one last glance at the barista, who’s now flirting with yet another customer. You roll your eyes before leaving the line, exiting the cafe with slumped shoulders.
–
“So where’s this cute barista?” Younghoon says, much too loud for your liking, as the two of you enter the cafe together this time.
You shush him, afraid that he’ll hear, especially as the line has pretty much disappeared. “I said he’s cute, but you do know he’s one of those,” you frantically reply in a hushed tone.
Younghoon stares at you, clueless. “What do you mea–”
You shake your head. “Let’s talk about this later. He’ll probably hear…” You turn towards the counter, only to realize that he’s gone. You blink. “Huh. Nevermind. I guess he got fired for flirting too much.”
–
The next day comes and the thought of that gorgeous barista has left your mind. Well, momentarily until you walk through the door of the cafe and see him standing right there. You gasp and turn around almost immediately.
Then, you catch your reflection in the window and you clear your throat, straightening up. You scoff to yourself. What am I thinking? You know what he’s like. There’s no way you’re going to try to engage anything now, knowing he’d probably flirt with you just like he did with those other customers.
You fix your clothes and walk up to the counter, albeit a little cautiously.
The man still doesn’t look up from the cash register as he speaks, “What can I get for you today?”
You stand silently, staring at him, trying to get a proper glimpse of his face for… research purposes, of course. Once he notices your silence, that’s when he decides to look up.
And his whole facial expression changes. No longer does he have that confident look in his eyes and a smile on his face like you saw him yesterday. Instead, his eyes are wide, dumbfounded as he searches yours.
You blink, staring back.
His gaze travels across your face before he suddenly clears his throat and looks away. It’s almost like he’s embarrassed… from mere eye contact.
You peer at him suspiciously before finally responding. “Could I get an iced chai latte?”
He continues to look at you without a single word. The only thing that’s similar is the sparkle in his eyes. It’s almost like he’s admiring you. But there’s no way. You’re just a stranger that he’s just met.
Still, you give him a small smile.
That certainly doesn’t seem to help as you start to notice his ears turning red.
“Yes,” he chokes out, rushing to put the order in.
You look at him, your small smile turning more into a wider, fond one. He’s… different today. He’s not that charming, flirty guy anymore. Rather he’s– he’s a mess. And you have no idea why.
“Is that all?” He fumbles before taking the card from your hand. The tips of your fingers brush against his skin, and his eyes widen even further.
“Mhm.” You grin before finally taking a glance at his nametag. “Sunwoo.”
He pauses before looking up. Then, he tries to school that charming smile on his face, and he even attempts to give you a flirty look. But you can easily see past him. “You know my name?”
You raise an eyebrow before pointing to the name card that’s attached to his apron. “Well, I know it now.”
“Oh,” he breathes. “Right.” The tips of his ears are bright red now as he hands you the receipt. “It was nice meeting you…” He looks at you questioningly.
“Y/n,” you reply with a quiet laugh.
Sunwoo smiles, and this smile is much more genuine than all the others that you’ve seen. He gives you a kind look and an awkward wave. “It was nice meeting you, Y/n.”
You smile back.
“See you around, Sunwoo.” You give him a playful look before leaving to pick up your drink, completely missing the way he lets out a shaky breath before practically collapsing over the counter.
–
“He’s different.”
Younghoon wiggles his eyebrows. “How so?”
You hum, perplexed. “It’s like he couldn’t think properly when he saw me.”
“I say that is love at first sight.”
You sputter. “Absolutely not!”
–
Two days pass, and you finally have time to stop by the cafe again. And just as you expected–or, hoped–Sunwoo’s standing behind the counter again. He seems to be distracted by the nearby window, but once he hears your footsteps approaching, his eyes almost light up immediately, much like an eager puppy.
“Hey, Sunwoo,” you say.
“Hey,” he responds, his voice soft as he looks over your outfit. “That color suits you.”
“Does it really?” You smile.
He nods quietly.
“Thank you,” you say, a little flustered. The two of you simply stare at each other, almost stupidly. Of course, you’re the first to snap out of it. “Another iced chai latte, please?”
Sunwoo swallows thickly as he puts in the order once again. As you give him your card, you notice that he looks like he really wants to say something, but you’re not exactly sure what his intentions are.
A few moments of silence pass before he finally takes a deep breath and—
“I’m sorry.”
Your mouth falls open. That’s certainly not what you were expecting.
This barista that you’ve just met a few days ago is already apologizing. For what, you have no idea.
“Is there… is there no iced chai latte left?” You ask dumbly.
“Oh no,” Sunwoo laughs nervously. “I just– here.” He hastily gives you the receipt. “I think I came off weird the first time we met.”
“Ah,” you breathe before letting out a soft laugh. “You mean when you stared at me instead of taking my order?”
“Yes. That.”
“Hm,” you hum, amused. “Well, I wasn’t exactly weirded out if that’s what you’re wondering. I’m just curious.”
Sunwoo gulps. “A-about what?”
“I mean, why stare at me like that? I’ve seen the way you flirt with customers. What’s different with me?” You tilt your head teasingly.
“I just…” He glances off to the side, and that’s when you notice Eric standing in the back, cheering him on. “I thought you were pretty,” he whispers.
Suddenly, it’s your turn to feel embarrassed, heat rushing to your cheeks almost immediately. Still, you remain composed. Well, much more composed than how Sunwoo is right now. He’s a mess. Again.
“You could have told me that.”
“I did, just now.”
“I mean back then.”
“I was nervous,” he blurts out.
You burst out giggling, thoroughly enjoying the way he’s growing more and more embarrassed by the second. After catching your breath, you continue, “Well, I’m flattered. You’re cute yourself.”
Sunwoo gazes at you with wide eyes before looking away immediately. “Thank you,” he mumbles as he glances at you with a small, shy smile.
You grin before giving him a quiet wave. Just as you’re about to head off, Sunwoo suddenly stops you.
“Are you… are you coming back tomorrow?”
You widen your eyes and turn to him. You weren’t planning to, but now, noticing the way he has this adorably hopeful look on his face, you smile and give him a nod. “If you’d like me to.”
“I do. I’d really like that. A lot.”
You can’t help but laugh again. He really is an absolute mess.
–
Just as promised, you visit the cafe the next day. It’s a beautiful day, and as you walk in, you try not to get too distracted by the sunlight hitting the slope of Sunwoo’s nose. You clear your throat, ignoring your heart beat picking up, as you approach him.
“Isn’t the weather beautiful today?” You ask with a bright smile.
Sunwoo’s eyes soften as he looks you over before he nods. “It certainly is.”
You’re not sure if he’s really talking about the weather.
“Anyway…” You continue, leaning your hip against the counter. It’s almost embarrassing how eager you are to keep talking to this barista whom you’ve assumed was just a flirt. But now… he’s so much more than that. He’s sweet and honestly brightens your day more than the sun ever could. “How’s your day been?” You stutter momentarily. “I–I mean I know you’ve just been working but I’m still curious, you know–”
“Red.”
You pause and slowly turn your head towards Sunwoo, baffled.
“What?”
Sunwoo stares back, eyes adorably wide. “What?”
You bite your lip, holding back the laugh that threatens to escape you. “You just said that your day was red.” You glance out the nearby window. “The sky is blue as far as I’m concerned.”
“Oh.” Sunwoo, clearly embarrassed, reaches for a nearby towel and starts vigorously cleaning the counter, trying to avoid eye contact as much as possible. You observe him with amusement. “I thought– I just meant–” He sighs, dropping the towel in defeat before looking back up to you. “Red suits you.”
You widen your eyes and look down, remembering that you are, in fact, wearing red today. A small smirk appears on your lips as you give him a fond look. “That’s not what I asked, Sunwoo.”
“What did you ask?”
“How was your day?”
“Better now that you’re here.”
“Oh,” you breathe. And that laugh that you’ve been trying to hold back for so long finally escapes. You can’t control it as you feel yourself smile wider and wider. Sunwoo is silent, seeming to watch you giggle at his attempt at flirting. Once you catch your breath, you notice the way he’s looking at you like he could melt any moment.
Now that’s what makes your cheeks heat up.
But you won’t mention that.
“You’re quite the flirt aren’t you?” You finally say as Sunwoo continues to look at you with this… adorably hopeful look.
“I’m trying,” he mumbles.
“It’s a good attempt,” you joke. A pause. “Keep at it.”
He looks up at you, eyes sparkling. “Is it working?”
“Nope.”
His shoulders slump, and he gives you a sulky look. Oh, how you love to tease him. In truth, it kind of is working, but not in the typical way that flirting usually affects people. It’s more like you find him cute simply because he’s trying.
“Well… I’ll see you around?” You ask.
Sunwoo gives you yet another sulky look. “Tomorrow?”
See, you really weren’t planning to come to this cafe every day but now… because of him, you guess it’ll just have to be a new routine. You try not to think of the iced chai lattes that will start building up on your credit card bill.
“Sure.”
–
The next day, as you walk into the cafe, you’re wholeheartedly disappointed to find that Sunwoo is nowhere to be seen behind the counter. Eric seems to be busy trying to fix the broken coffee machine. With a sigh, you’re about to turn around when suddenly, you feel a poke on your shoulder.
You jump, whipping your head to the side, only to find Sunwoo standing right in front of you. Yet again, your heart skips a beat as you notice his true height, and oh, he’s much more handsome up close.
It takes you a few more seconds to finally think of anything to say, too mesmerized by this stupidly cute barista standing before you.
“Shouldn’t you be behind the counter?”
You feel yourself cringe on the inside. That’s all I could think of?
Sunwoo grins and shrugs. “I’m on break.”
“Actually,” Eric suddenly calls out. “He saw that you were coming and decided to take a break.”
You turn to look at him, silently questioning if it’s true. Sunwoo’s reddening ears are enough of an answer.
“Well…” You think for a moment before giving him a shy look. “This is great! Because I have something I want to show you.”
Sunwoo doesn’t get a chance to answer as you lead him out of the cafe and towards a nearby patch of grass, lined with round stones, just on the side of the building. You have no idea where this miniature garden came from, but it’s become one of your favorite things ever.
Some flowers have begun to bloom, signalling the coming of the new spring season. They’re colorful, just as you’ve always liked it. The two of you crouch down, observing as they sway against the light breeze.
You turn to look at him, only to realize just how close your faces are. Sunwoo’s gaze is soft as he observes your features with a small smile.
“I… know we’ve only recently met,” you begin, your voice hushed for some reason. “But I just wanted to show you this. I always keep an eye on these flowers, waiting for them to bloom. It’s always so beautiful.”
Sunwoo listens intently, yet it’s clear he’s also very distracted, admiring you. You can see the gears turning in his head as he opens his mouth. “Just–”
“Just like you.” You beat him to it. “Is that what you were going to say?”
Sunwoo gapes at you before groaning, letting out a frustrated, “yes.” He narrows his eyes. “You’re no fun.”
You laugh, bumping your shoulder against his playfully. “Flirting doesn’t work on me.”
“I figured,” he sighs as the both of you stand up.
You’re about to head back into the cafe when Sunwoo suddenly calls your name. You turn around, surprised.
“So what does work?”
“What?”
Sunwoo gives you a hopeful look as he steps closer. His hair blows messily in the wind, and your hand twitches to pat it down.
“If flirting doesn’t work, then what will?” He asks, his voice quiet.
You give him a teasing smile. “I’m not sure. You’ll just have to experiment.” And then you’re quickly turning around, rushing back into the cafe.
Sunwoo rolls his eyes fondly as he follows after you.
–
You learn new things all the time. For example, you’ve learned that Sunwoo’s not only an awkward and endearing mess, but he’s also a very, very determined person. Almost every day that you visit the cafe, he’s come up with some “genius” plan to win you over. It’s like he has some sort of mental checklist, trying new things in hopes of making you smile and perhaps, make you flustered in the process.
One day, you left the cafe with both an iced chai latte and… a flower.
–
You stare in shock at the flower in Sunwoo’s hand. It’s pretty, that’s for sure, with its light purple petals. He holds it out to you with a nervous look on his face.
“Giving gifts now?” You ask, biting back a smile.
Sunwoo nods, and you notice the way his hand shakes ever so slightly. Oh, he really is nervous.
“Is it working?”
“Maybe,” you tease as you gently take it from him, ignoring the spark as your fingers graze each other. “But why this particular one?” You ask, observing it closely in awe.
Sunwoo hums. “It reminded me of you.”
Then, he reaches over and takes it from your hand. You stare in both disbelief and offense. You were pretty sure the flower was meant for you. You’re about to scold him when suddenly, Sunwoo brings the flower up and tucks it into your hair. His touch is gentle as he carefully brushes away any strands that are in the way.
You feel yourself freeze, unable to think until finally, Sunwoo leans back, observing you with an admiring look.
“The color suits you too.”
You’re speechless for a moment before you quickly compose yourself. “Hey, Sunwoo.”
Sunwoo seems to be mesmerized by you as he continues to foolishly smile. “Hm?”
“I’ve noticed something.”
“And that is?”
“You always notice colors when it comes to me.” You recall the countless times that he’s said that a color suits you, whether it be because of your outfit or a pin in your hair. You’re pretty sure you could wear every color that exists and he’d still say the same thing. “Why?” You lean slightly over the counter, peering at him mischievously. “I’m curious.”
Sunwoo’s cheeks are tinted pink as he stares at you. He seems to think for a moment, as if trying to come up with the best answer possible.
“Because…” He adjusts the flower in your hair. “You already catch my eye. You always do. I just think that every color only makes you even more beautiful.”
Your breath catches in your throat as you lean away in surprise. You sincerely hope that you’re not blushing right now because his words certainly… You blink profusely. There’s no way the flirting actually worked on you. You blink again. Was it even flirting? No, he was being genuine.
You look at him, only to find that Sunwoo’s equally as embarrassed. Then, he asks that very same question again.
“Did it work?”
“No,” you lie, unable to control the slight tremor in your voice.
And you expect him to sulk, but instead, he’s giving you a knowing look. He’s smiling now, too. Oh god, he’s noticed.
“Are you sure?” He teases. “Because it seems to have affected you quite a bit–”
“Not at all,” you sputter, hurriedly taking the flower out of your hair. You give him a weak glare before turning around and hurrying out of the cafe.
Oh, and the flower still sits in your vase, becoming the first thing you see every morning. But, you wouldn’t dare tell Sunwoo that.
—
A week passes and the cafe has started to become your most frequently visited place. For no particular reason at all!
The relationship you have with Sunwoo only grows sweeter by the second. Every conversation you have leaves you smiling for hours after. Besides his horrible attempts at swooning you, you adore his naturally sweet personality. He always listens, even when you go off random tangents. There was one time that you were particularly tired and Sunwoo had noticed right away. He lowered his voice into a gentle tone and you could see in his eyes the way he would subtly check if you’re alright.
The vase that you have has slowly started to grow with a colorful collection of flowers, all of which he would say “reminded me of you.” If a flower dies, he would help replace it with a prettier one.
Your heart pounds over and over again when you’re with this ridiculously cute barista.
One day, you walk in, only to see him chatting with a customer. She’s gorgeous, you notice, and that’s when you feel a weird feeling in your chest, as if your heart is twisting.
You watch silently, seeing the way Sunwoo smiles at her and laughs.
Now obviously, it’s not like you two are dating or anything. Perhaps feeling jealousy is just a normal occurrence.
Suddenly, the woman turns around and glances at you. She gives you a sweet smile before turning back around. You watch in disbelief as she leans closer and whispers something into Sunwoo’s ear before walking away to sit down at one of the tables.
With a low sigh, you approach the counter.
“The usual,” you mumble, unable to look the man in the eye.
“Y/n. I have to tell you something.”
Your heart picks up, and you look up at him.
It barely registers, the way he reaches over and gently tucks a strand of hair behind your ear. He gives you a smile, one that makes your breath hitch.
“I think I have a crush on you.”
You widen your eyes and jerk back. “W-what?” You stammer, unable to control the heat that creeps up your neck. “You— you can’t just start a conversation with that! Are you okay?”
Sunwoo nods but you can tell he’s suffering inside, so incredibly embarrassed. He’s unable to look you in the eye as he asks once again, “Did it work?”
You stare incredulously.
Then, he glances to the side frantically, as if to beg for help. You can see it in his gaze as if he’s trying to say, hey, this is not working like you said it would!
You narrow your eyes, wondering who he’s even looking at. “Was it… did Eric put you up to this? You know you should never ask him for any advice.”
“No,” he groans. “It was her.” He nods his head towards that very same woman from before. You look back and see that she’s still sitting there, watching the scene before her unfold with an amused look on her face. “My sister,” Sunwoo continues.
You gape. His sister? Slowly, it dawns on you. “Did you… ask her for advice? About me?”
“No,” Sunwoo scrambles to say. He winces when he notices the way you’re looking at him unimpressed before he sighs. “Maybe. I was hoping her idea would work.”
“Good try.” You smile knowingly. Honestly, you think it’s adorable how he even went to his sister for help. Still, you find yourself a little confused.
Sunwoo’s still looking at you with hope. It’s almost like he’s waiting for an answer.
Instead, you choose to ask a question.
“Did you mean it?”
“What?”
“Did you really mean what you said?”
Sunwoo looks at you in disbelief. “I mean—“ He stops and sighs. “Okay. I need to do this properly. Just give me a chance.” It seems like he’s speaking more to himself than you and now you’re even more confused.
“What are you planning this time—“
Sunwoo reaches over and grabs your already prepared drink because yes, he prepares them in advance for you now. You watch as he picks up a pen and writes on the side of the cup before handing it to you.
You take it, your hand brushing against his briefly—something that the two of you sort of, maybe, do on purpose sometimes.
“See you later, Y/n.” He gives you a nervous smile.
You feel like you have just been played. How could he say that he has a crush on you and then act like nothing happened?
Holding the drink in your hand, you exit the cafe. You’re about to call Younghoon and complain about this whole situation when you suddenly remember that you saw Sunwoo write on the cup. Curiously, you hold it up and read the message he’s left behind.
my break is at 1 tomorrow. walk with me?
p.s. i meant it by the way.
He even drew a small cat winking. It was slightly messy but a good effort.
You read the words over and over again before you feel a stupid smile grow on your face. You bite your lip as a pathetic attempt to stop it as you turn around to see through the window, Sunwoo, head in hands as he rambles to his sister about how he had absolutely messed up.
You sigh fondly.
Oh, how you can’t wait for tomorrow.
–
You arrive exactly before one and you don’t bother to order a drink this time. No amount of caffeine can compare to the energy you feel as you walk in and see that Sunwoo isn’t behind the counter, but rather waiting for you right at the door.
He smiles, always so eager to see you.
“I was hoping you’d read my message.”
You roll your eyes. “How could I not?”
Sunwoo scrunches his nose slightly before gesturing to the door–the one that you just entered through. “So…” He tilts his head unsurely. “Would you care to join me?”
“For a walk?” You ask in a teasing tone.
“For a walk.”
“Of course,” you giggle as the two of you leave together, hands brushing just the slightest.
It’s a beautiful day–the sky is clear, the temperature is just right, and there’s a really, really cute barista right next to you. He’s cute in all sorts of ways. He has big eyes, full lips, and a heart-stopping smile. His hair ruffles adorably in the wind. He rambles about mundane things and gets happy when you respond. He also likes to listen to you quietly, looking at you as if you’re the sole person in the world.
“Would you consider this a date?” You drop the question out of nowhere, just as the two of you turn the corner.
Sunwoo almost trips. Though once he regains his balance, he turns to you and opens his mouth. Then he closes it. He just chooses to quietly nod instead.
You can’t help but smile widely. “I consider it a date too.”
Sunwoo’s eyes widen in pleasant surprise before he grins.
And that’s all there is to it.
Not a single response.
“Sunwoo,” you say, eyeing him carefully. “The silent treatment is not a good method of flirting. It won’t work.”
You watch as Sunwoo stares at you, like he’s planning something–he’s always planning something. And then, in a split second, he suddenly leans in and presses his lips to your cheek before pulling back almost immediately.
“Oh–” You look at him in utter surprise, feeling your skin heat up quickly.
Sunwoo gives you a shy look. “Did that work?”
“No,” you lie. You can still feel it–his lips on your skin, so gentle and full of care. “I can’t believe you did that before we held hands.”
“I can do that too,” the man scrambles to say as he reaches down and grabs your hand, intertwining your fingers. “Anything else?”
You feel like you’re going to faint, and so you stop in your tracks, looking at him helplessly.
Sunwoo notices your confusion, and his eyes soften before he steps closer. “Y/n,” he whispers.
“Hm?” It’s your turn to avoid eye contact.
“I’ve realized something.”
“That you have a crush on me?”
“I’ve realized that a long time ago,” Sunwoo replies with a small smile. “What I mean is that…” He sighs, defeated as he looks down at the ground. “I’m a horrible flirt, especially around you.”
You let out a loud laugh at that. “I’m glad you’re self-aware.” You pause, thinking. “But you know… my first impression of you was that you were a flirty guy. A pretty good one at that.”
Sunwoo shakes his head. “I was practicing.”
“Practicing? For what?”
“For you.”
You gape at him. “Sunwoo.”
“I saw you a while ago. Before we met and while I was training for this job. You walked by, I saw you through the window, and… I couldn’t take my eyes off you. And–” He groans, so clearly embarrassed. “When I asked Eric, he said that you often come to the cafe so I thought… if I practiced, I would be prepared for you.”
“You–” you gawk at him. “What about those people’s feelings? That’s cruel.”
“I call it customer service.” Sunwoo grins. “Though I’ve been lacking ever since I met you. You’re all I think about.”
“Still, if you wanted to practice, you could have practiced on me, not them.”
“I’ve been trying,” Sunwoo whines. “It doesn’t seem to work on you though…” He trails off, and he gives you a knowing look. “Wait, are you jealous?”
“What?” You immediately exclaim. “No! No, I just— I think it’s a bit odd that’s all.”
“Well, if you’re wondering…” Sunwoo steps closer. The two of you are hidden behind a cherry blossom tree, away from any prying eyes. You don’t even know how you ended up there, much too focused on the way Sunwoo’s looking at you with a gaze full of warmth and fondness. “Practically every customer can tell that I really, really like you.”
You scowl. “This is not as romantic as you think it is.”
“But it seems to be working.” Sunwoo brushes a thumb across your cheek, and you’re sure you’re blushing right now. He slowly moves his hand to cup the side of your face. “Does this work as well?” He asks with a nervous smile.
You nod quietly, eyes wide.
“What else can I do to make you realize how much I like you?”
You swallow thickly, your gaze falling to his lips. Sunwoo seems to notice immediately and he smiles.
“I can do that too,” he whispers, looking at your lips as well.
You’re going to lose your mind.
“If you would like, of course.” He gives you a patient, questioning look. Your heartbeat is ridiculously fast, and you can feel your palms grow sweaty. Since when was he… so good at this? These past few weeks, he’s been an absolute loser. So why is it that now he’s doing this so naturally all of a sudden?
“I…” Instead of giving a full response, you simply shut your eyes and wait.
You can hear the soft rustle of the tree’s leaves, as well as Sunwoo’s quiet hum. And soon enough, you feel a soft pair of lips press against yours. It’s a small peck as he leans away immediately. Your eyes flutter open, and you can see that he’s looking at you with wide, adorable eyes.
He lets out a shaky breath as he tilts his head, much like a puppy.
“Did it wor–”
“Yes,” you breathe out as you lean up and kiss him again. The poor man lets out a surprised sound, but he’s quick to return it, smiling against your lips. He even giggles, making your heart feel like it’ll burst.
You kiss him like you’ve been waiting for it, cherishing the moment. Sunwoo kisses you like he adores you. Which, you’re sure he does.
Reluctantly, he pulls away, giving you a lovesick gaze. “Does that mean you like me too?”
“What do you think?” You smile. “I always have.”
“Really? Wait then–”
“It’s always worked,” you continue, laughing softly. “You know I’ve just been teasing you this whole time. Your flirting… it kind of sucks, but–” You lean up again, this time to press a kiss to his cheek before whispering into his ear, “I like that you try.”
“I like you,” Sunwoo stupidly blurts out.
“I know.” You laugh. “I like you too.”
“Oh,” he breathes out, looking like he’s gone weak in the knees. “This is amazing. The whole time, I thought I was messing up and weirding you out and–” Impulsively, he leans in to kiss you again. This time, it’s more passionate as he uses both his hands to cup your face. He moves his lips slowly, as if he’s trying to memorize what you prefer. One of his hands moves down to your waist as he deepens the kiss ever so slightly. “You’re beautiful,” he whispers as you break apart, breathless.
You smile softly. “Thank you. And you’re a great kisser.”
“So it worked,” he jokes.
“Always.”
“But…” He shyly reaches down for your hand. “Are you sure? I could always kiss you more so that you can make sure.” He gives you a foolish smile.
You groan. “Sunwoo.”
“Hm?” He seems to be in a daze, focused solely on your features, admiring each and every one of them.
“You know I like you as you are. There’s no need to flirt with me,” you explain.
“Ah,” Sunwoo sighs, and he grumbles. “So what you’re saying is that you like when I’m a mess.”
“That’s exactly what I’m saying. If you want a kiss, you can just have it.”
“Good to know,” he mumbles as he leans in, taking your advice and kissing you again. “Because I can’t help being a mess when I’m around you.”
“And that’s okay,” you giggle, getting slightly cut off as Sunwoo kisses you over and over again. His lips are soft as he captures your bottom lip between them. You feel the cherry blossom petals fall around the two of you. You peek your eye open and see that one has landed on the top of Sunwoo’s head, making you giggle against his lips before you shut your eyes again and allow yourself to fall.
Well, not literally.
But fall for him? Most definitely.
Suddenly, that’s when you remember something.
“Hey, Sunwoo,” you mumble. “When does your break end?”
Sunwoo freezes and he widens his eyes as he pulls out his phone and reads the time. He gives you a sheepish look.
“Ten minutes ago.”
You gasp, shoving him away, much to his disappointment. “Sunwoo!” You scold. “You need to go back to work. Enough of being a loser, please.”
“But–” Sunwoo doesn’t even try to deny the fact that you had straight up called him a loser. Instead, he pouts. Yes, he pouts at you with sad eyes.
You won’t lie and say that you almost gave in.
You reach up and fix his hair, messy from the light breeze. Then, just to satisfy his sulkiness, you give him a quick kiss on the lips before lightly pushing him away. “Seriously. You can’t get fired already. I’ll see you tomorrow, alright?”
His eyes light up at the sound of the word “tomorrow.” He nods and gives you the cutest smile you’ve ever seen. “Okay, Y/n.”
You laugh softly as you watch Sunwoo walk down the sidewalk. But rather, he’s more… skipping down the sidewalk. He even stops to scream into his hand before continuing, acting like nothing’s happened.
See this, this is the type of Sunwoo you adore.

Epilogue
Sunwoo is a horrible flirt.
It’s like one of those facts that you can just never get around. If you ever give him a smile, he will absolutely melt and even hide behind whoever’s next to him, whether that’s his sister or his fellow coworker, Eric. If you tell him that he looks handsome, he’ll try to compliment you back, but his words are incomprehensible with how flustered he already is.
He blushes, especially on the tip of his ears, endearingly so. You like to give him a quick kiss just to see them deepen in color.
Sunwoo is a horrible flirt.
Yet he still tries to this day.
No matter how many times you tell him that he doesn’t need to tell you a cheesy pick-up line or pull out a crumpled rose from his pocket, he just keeps on trying. You have no idea why. To tell the truth, you think it’s kind of cute. But, don’t tell him that or else he’ll probably lose his mind.
He just always claims it’ll work one day.
“Did it hurt when you fell from the sk–”
“No.”
Sunwoo sighs as he scooches closer to you on the bench that the two of you are sitting on. He leans his shoulder against yours as he looks up to the setting sun. You lean into him as well, smiling with contentment.
“Please indulge me,” he asks with a pleading look. “Let me win just this once.”
You scrunch your nose and shake your head. “It’ll never work.”
He narrows his eyes and gives you a teasing look right after. “I thought you said it always did–”
You stutter and slap a hand over his mouth.
“I lied.”
“Sure.”
You stay quiet, too embarrassed to say anything after.
So… sometimes, his efforts pay off. Rarely. Don’t get his hopes up too much.
But besides all that, Sunwoo shows a lot more of his true self.
And that is– he is an absolute clingy mess.
He’s almost always hugging you, holding you close in some way. He claims he’s doing it just because he’s missed you. But you two see each other almost every day.
If you tease him, he’ll get shy.
He’s shy, but he’s never shy enough to tell you that you look pretty, that a certain color suits you, that he really wants to kiss you right now.
“I kind of look like a mess,” you grumble, looking at him incredulously.
“Please,” he whispers, stepping closer. “I don’t mind. Besides, to me… you look gorgeous.”
You can’t help but give him a small smile. “Well, if you’d like to–”
“I do, I really do,” he replies desperately as he walks forward, kissing you like he means it. Yes, he’s always a good kisser, it’s almost sickening how he manages to make you feel like your floating with how he always cups your jaw and moves his lips in such a sensual way.
He likes it when you tug his hair when the two of you are kissing.
But don’t go too much into it or else he’ll get shy again.
Sunwoo is both a horrible flirt and a clingy mess.
But perhaps, that’s why you like him so much.
–
It’s a cloudy, almost depressing day as you walk into the cafe. That’s when you get stopped in your tracks, realizing that there’s a gigantic line. You groan internally, feeling a sense of déjà vu, reminding you of when you first set your eyes on that cute barista who’s now your boyfriend.
You squint your eyes and spot a pink tulip that Sunwoo’s set aside, one that he’s probably going to give to you once you eventually reach the counter.
You expect him not to see you as he converses with the customer in front of him with a charming smile. But then, he looks up and he notices you almost immediately. He always manages to find you in any room, no matter how many people there are.
His eyes brighten at the sight of you.
You smile softly at him.
He gives you the sweetest smile back.

footnote izzy couldn’t wait until september ・ kim sunwoo x gender netural reader + word count 1033 genre fluff .. initial one-sided enemies .. fanfic writer au warnings what happened to less than 500 words? where did that go?
fanfic writer! sunwoo who hadn’t foreseen himself tumbling into this pipeline.
like many victims before him, he was just a reader. while he had an appreciation for all forms of literary art, it was the stories that stemmed from canon events, people, and universes that had his utmost interest. the concept of fanfiction was so cool, the way an imaginative mind can show their admiration for a masterpiece by adding complementary works.
(that’s how sunwoo planned to lay it out for eric after he got too curious over all the open tabs on the older’s laptop. turns out it only takes a spew of word vomit, a buy-one-take-one offer from the local pizzaria, and eleven story recos to recruit his roommate into the fold successfully. it hasn’t produced the same results with his other friends, but he’ll get there soon.)
he’s a sucker for fluff—wait, scratch that, he’s very passionate over the mushy, creepy-crawly inducing, soumersaulting side of romance. it’s like a puppy and their favorite toy; shuffle a few sweet scenarios his way, and he’ll plop himself in a solitude corner to cover his mouth, giggle, maybe even deliver a small kick or two at the air. the difference between sunwoo and a floof is he’ll take his time to pick out which parts to screenshot then type, backspace, consider being coherent, only to ramble about how much he loved it, and reblog it.
his own stories should have been a sort of love letter to the genre. but no, they had to be pieces of his villain arc.
spoiler alert: it’s your fault.
you, who seemingly consumes nothing but tragedy. your stories that lure innocent hearts in, only to traumatize them with your tear-jerking climaxes and shattered hearts as souvenirs. don’t get sunwoo started on all the times he’s begged for a happy twist, only to spill another bucket of tears (and reviews) when you feign ignorance and publish another bittersweet chapter.
calling him petty is.. fair. it’s all a matter of preference; yours just happens to stand at the opposite end. but did that stop sunwoo from opening his own writing space under the guise of sharing his own cheesy tales with the community?
(obviously not.)
a large mountain of dust bunnies wips, a couple hundred followers, and several amazing mutuals later, sunwoo’s yet to achieve his initial dream. between the brainstorms and breakdowns, he’s found himself less determined to change your taste in exchange for learning more about you.
like, you don’t write angst because you have an acquired taste in making people feel hurt. you create all that art to make them feel, and it just so happens that sadness is your speciality. he’s discovered a few more things, such as you can’t write without music blasting through your speaker, the paragraph alignment must be justified, and your ideas seemingly make more sense when you share them with someone.
“let me see if i heard you right, which i hope i didn’t..” you were doing this on purpose, he can read it through your muffled snicker. still, he plays the role of disappointment—nudging his glasses upwards and exhaling a deep sigh for the extra pinch of drama. “..you want to take jinnie’s pain, double it, then pass it to the half innocent second lead?”
sunwoo’s never considered himself the funniest one in the room, let alone someone who can tickle others’ sense of humor quickly. then your laughter plays through his laptop’s speakers, and all of a sudden, he feels otherwise. perhaps you were a siren in one of your past lives. it’d explain how you get him to minimize his draft tab, rest his head on his open palm, and enjoy the view unfolding behind the screen.
“nope, nuh uh. sit back up and pay for the damages.” sunwoo tries to scold you, but lacks the will to actually be grumpy. he’s caught in the way you laugh with your whole body, head tilted back and hands smacking your desk.
the low hum of your background music fills in the gaps of the silence. sometimes, sunwoo forgets you’re out of his reach—an easy mistake to make after having one too many video calls with you. as he watches you recover from your amusement, he catches himself slipping up again, silently wishing he was there to adjust your chair for you. so he could brush the baby hairs back and squeeze your aching sides.
“a sacrifice is necessary, ddeonu,” you argue on behalf your idea. “if i’m gonna give hyejin and hanbin a happy ending, someone needs to be sad. otherwise, everyone’s gonna suffer. does that sound like a fair deal to you?”
sunwoo pouts and pretends to think about it. “fine, but only because they’re my endgame.”
but is that the actual truth? or is it because his stomach does somersaults whenever he remembers that you’ve only begun dabbling in merging the two genres because he asked? or maybe it’s that impulsive urge to make you the base of his muses’ personas every single time he opens a document? or could it be those times eric caught him feeling so giddy because of someone instead of something?
it’s a cliche and well-loved trope; the opposites falling for each other. and yet, sunwoo can’t help himself from sneaking another glance at your profile before shifting to another open tab. he’s still got deadlines to meet, plotlines that are waiting to be unraveled, and your dulcet humming jumbling his thoughts.
it’s chaos; his type of chaos.
maybe it’s meant to be this way. perhaps he was destined to fall into this rabbit hole and traverse all the way to where he is now. or maybe all this analyzing and theorizing between the lines could be a side-effect from drowning in a tsunami of soulmate au fics.
how would sunwoo know? he too was a character in an incomplete story. maybe he’s not even a main character in yours, let alone the love interest. still, as he listens to you ramble about another potential plot hole in your thought process, he sneakily adds a comment for his writer.
if you can, don’t let me fall in love alone.. pretty please?

Sunwoo is startled awake at the sound of something breaking in the kitchen. His eyes widen when he sees you missing from your side of the bed. The comforter now lays on the ground as Sunwoo scrambles to find you, mind racing with the worst case scenarios. When he rounds the corner his shoulders relax at the sight of you standing by the sink.
As he gets closer he notices your hands that are held under the water. Panic sets in when he sees hues of red trailing down your fingers then swirling down the drain.
“Baby, are you okay?”
You flinch slightly at the feeling of his hands on your shoulders making him pout. You continue to rinse the blood off flowing from your thumb. Your silence was freaking him out but he didn’t want to overwhelm you.
“Sorry, I just don’t want to be touched right now.” Your voice is quiet and Sunwoo can hear the guilt you were feeling.
You know he doesn’t mind but you still felt a little guilty. He reassures you that it’s okay and then leaves to get a first aid kit.
“Can you at least tell me what happened?” Sunwoo asked while watching you carefully spread ointment on your cut and then wrapping it up with a band aid.
“I was grabbing a mug and I guess I set it down too hard because it just shattered. Some glass caught my thumb.” You pout and rub at said injury to avoid eye contact, “it was your favorite one.”
Sunwoo nearly laughs. Of course you’d be more concerned about a replaceable object than your bleeding hand. He leans forward, hesitantly grabbing your uninjured hand and when you don’t pull away Sunwoo intertwines your fingers, holding your hand gently. A fierce blush creeps up your neck as he kisses each knuckle delicately.
“I can always get another mug. I can’t get another you.” He pecks the back of your hand.
“But it was a souvenir from the tour!” You exclaim, not understanding why he wasn’t as mad as you thought he’d be.
Sunwoo shakes his head with a small smile forming on his lips. He squats down a little to grab the backs of your thighs, lifting you to sit up on the counter. You wrap your arms around his neck as he slots himself between your legs, wrapping his arms around your waist. He pulls you flush against him and tucks his face into your neck, leaving soft kisses along the base of your throat and shoulder.
“You and I will just have to go back and get another one then.”
He trails his hand up your arm until he reaches your injured hand, bringing it up to his lips, pressing the lightest of kisses to your band aid. You lean over to kiss his cheek but he turns just in time to kiss you properly. You both smile into the kiss and he lifts you into his arms, taking you back to bed. The tea you originally got up for long forgotten.

footnote ..technically it was january when i wrote this so i did make something for my babie ・ lee juyeon x gender netural reader + word count 595 genre fluff .. tutor x tutee .. lovestruck jock warnings he’s so cute.. so gullible too :3
there’s no need to say it aloud, juyeon knows what you think of him. he’s a varsity jock, an adored figure among the student body, a sinking case that your professor dumped on you in the hopes you can perform a miracle. and whilst juyeon’s concerns are supposed to revolve around his lifting his grades in time for the upcoming championship, proving to you that he’s not a blockhead matters more than potentially being benched.
too bad he’s still stuck on question three.
“need some help, lee?” you ask, ever so astute in your surroundings.
his mind registers the question, his lips hold no answers.
it’s standard practice; checking in on him from time to time. and yet, all he can think about was how your voice chimes in his ears like the cute keychains adorning your bag. ten minutes of staring at his worksheet, callused fingers steadily roaming across the surface like an invisible highlighter, with no answer in sight can do that to the brain.
juyeon, he corrects you.. in his head. if the confidence he exhibited on the court and around his friends bled into his interactions with you, he’d ask why everyone else got the privilege of being called by their name. he doesn’t mean to sound needy, not when he’s merely another tutee to you, but he can’t refrain from hoping you’ll say his name too.
maybe i could—
“yes please,” he smiles sheepishly and nudges the paper back to you. “i thought i understood the question. but now i have to actually write down my answer, it’s kinda confusing.”
—consider asking next time.
for a moment, juyeon indulges himself in the idea that you’re deliberately shuffling across your seat to be closer to him. it’s a risk—daydreaming about you when you’re right there, maneuvering his arm so you can read the rest of the text. rather than his heart’s pitter patters, he listens intently to the way you murmur in consideration.
“well, why don’t you start by defining the important term in the question? based on what you understand from the lessons, what is globalization?” you suggest, “once you make your own definition, you can list the pros and cons that it has brought to the religious practices here.”
“oh..” oh, he definitely made this harder for himself.
in a bid to sound so intelligent—so on par with you—he looked too deep into the question. it didn’t need to be answered with philosophical concepts and complex terms. rather, he could rely on his observations and stock knowledge—things he could have used ten minutes ago.
forget sinking, juyeon’s pretty sure he’s close to brushing his fingertips across the rock bottom.
“don’t stress your pretty mind over it,” you’re sweet, and just a little ignorant of his reddening ears. “if you get stuck again on any other questions, ask me.”
“are you sure? what if you explain something, and i still don’t understand something?” juyeon begins to ramble. “what if i end up taking more of your time? i don’t want to pull you away from other priorities—”
“then take it, i don’t mind.”
maybe juyeon doesn’t actually know how you perceive him. come on, is he aware of how eager and swift you were to snap up this opportunity? has he noticed the effort you put into keeping the window after each tutoring session empty, in case he needs more time? is he aware that your guilty pleasure is calling him by his last name, just to watch his lil’ nose crinkle and rosy lips pout?
maybe he isn’t stupid; definitely oblivious.
