hey Mikey, whatcha dreaming about? // hey Chuckles, what are you so afraid of?
The more power Mike gives other people, the more he has to give; the more Mayhem takes from other people, the more he can keep on taking. His powers are horribly reminiscent of Kane’s, with one major exception; once Kane has taken everything his victim has to give, they’re no use to him any more. When Mayhem drains somebody dry, he can just keep feeding.

"You recognized one of the Duke's rings as soon as you saw it," Julie says, and conjures up the larger-than-life captured image of a golden ring, turning it over in the air between her hands. The stone in the center is pure, milky white with two beads of jet set into the gold on either side. "I heard you asking him about it. So...?"
“We don’t have time for this,” says Mike. He’s not looking at the ring--the sight makes his eyes do something strange and hard, pupils a little bit too thin and not quite round. His teeth are too sharp. “The Duke--”
“Has too many of these stones for us to go in blind,” Julie says firmly. “We have to know what we’re dealing with. Do you know anything about any of these? Anything you can tell us is better than--”
"He's Jet," says Mike, fast and hard. He doesn't sound angry, or at least not at Julie--just very tense, talking through his teeth. "The guy, the dragon, the Duke took that stone from, he’s a Jet Dragon. His name's Rayon, I met him once when I was alone." he crosses his arms. "Black dragons can put...numbers, values, to things. They know the worth of something just by looking."
"So...he can force this guy to tell him, or...?" Dutch is turning a wrench over and over in his hands, looking very tense and tired.
"He's wearing the ring." Mike's hands clench very tightly on his knees. "He can use the power like it's his. Rayon can see it too, probably, wherever that--wherever he's locked up." is voice wavers, almost a snarl--he presses his lips together into a tight line for a second, and then forces himself to finish, "...but he can't control how his power's being used. He just...knows somebody's using it."
"Okay, so the Duke can count stuff," Texas snorts. "Big deal!"
"It's more...it's just more." Mike shakes his head. "More than that. He can tell what people value most, who people value most, he can tell who the leader is and cut the head off any army that comes for him, he...I don't like. Seeing somebody else with that stone."
There’s a tense moment of silence. Mike sits with his arms crossed, shoulders pulled in, head down, tight and unhappy.
"...I bet that's how he found the others' hoardes,” he says, almost to himself, quiet and pained. “...seeing what they valued most and stealing it." The last two words are an actual, full-blown snarl. His fire is trapped in the stone around Texas's bicep, but he's angry enough a wisp of silvery smoke drifts through the air on those words. Texas's hand jerks up to his arm as the stone heats again, almost burning against his skin.
"So, call it a...ring of Appraisal." Julie lets that illusion drift away from her, hanging in the air. “...what about the others?”
