🔥 - The 100 in general. So this shitshow. I think the biggest problem with the show ( and what leads to most people’s various problems with it ) is what I like to call the “The Big Bad” problem. Each season the writers have tried to introduce a new Big Bad. Season 1 it was “the grounders” aka just trikru. Season 2 was the mountain men. Season 3 was the rest of the grounders and ALIE. Season 4 was primfiya or however tf they spell it. Now, creating new and exciting hurdles for our character to jump over isn’t unusual, but the WAY they do it is terrible. They introduce the trikru warriors we have in s1, by the end of the season all but a select few are dead. They introduce the mountain men in s2, by the end of the season they’re all dead. They introduce the rest of the grounders through a handful of new characters as well as ALIE, by the end of the season most of the named new grounders are dead and ALIE is as well in her own AI way. By the end of season 4 almost everyone’s dead so what do they do. MAGICALLY CREATE NEW LIVING PEOPLE TO SHOW UP OUT OF NO WHERE AFTER 10 YEARS BECAUSE THEY’VE KILLED OFF ALL THE PEOPLE THEY’VE ALRADY INTRODUCED. My bets? By the end of season 5 the prisoners are gonna be dead too, just you wait and see.
🔥 - OC’s. I think that Lor put it quite well over here, but I’d like to add that people as a general rule in the roleplay community are lazy. We come on here to invest ourselves in a world we know, to put ourselves in this world. The problem comes in adding new faces to that world we already know. A lot of OC muns ( myself included don’t get me wrong ) try to write bios to explain WHY their character fits in this world, and that’s great, that’s exactly what people want to know. It’s also LONG AF especially when you’re accounting for 16-30 years of a backstory + 4 seasons worth of material. People are too lazy to read so much, and so they just... don’t. Then they feel unqualified to play with your OC because they don’t know your OC, and your OC goes ignored. Now, this obviously isn’t a catch-all, just a trend I’ve noticed over the years. People have concise bios and still get ignored, and that’s an issue on it’s own. But if you have a long bio ( aka over a couple short-mid paragraphs ) it might be worth looking into adding a TLDR section to give people a quick overview of your character’s personality and traits so they can at least play with you a bit before having to learn everything that happened in your character’s past that led them to this moment.
🔥 - Shipping. So I have two somewhat contradictory ideas about shipping. On the one hand, I’m a ‘you do you’ kind of person. You want to base your blog mostly around shipping, go for it friend. Live your best life. Onthe other hand, don’t be surprised when other people don’t want to play with you, because I’ve noticed blogs that rely heavily on their ship partners have little need for platonic partners, and people notice that. Me, for instance. You wanna ship with Lou, great awesome he’s an easy guy to ship with I get it. But if Lou’s my only kid you play with I start to wonder if you actually like me or my writing or even my kid, or if you just like the idea of KJ’s face kissing your character’s face. ( disclaimer: this has yet to happen to me and is not directed toward anyone, this is just an example as I am very aware it could happen because Fox is a shy smol that sometimes acts younger than she is as a defense mechanism and Louis is an oversexual butthead who’d just as soon kiss your muse as talk to them ). As a person who's main muse is a female muse who is usually better suited to platonic relationships than shippy ones, I do personally take offense to blogs that only seem to want shipping partners because I already know you’re not interested in me without knowing me or Fox.
AND MY GIRL IS FUCKIN’ AWESOME OKAY.
