Social Media Submission: 5 of My favorite Life Lessons--

So I turned 20 on January 2nd, which means I start the beginning of each year with my birthday. That got me thinking, if I can live to 100, then I have technically lived through 1/5th of my life. And so here are 5 things I have learned from my 1/5th of life.

                                                        Lesson #1:

My faith used to be an aggressive set of rules that forced me to be good so I wouldn’t face judgement. I lived in fear because I never felt good enough. But I learned faith has many different facets. Soon I discovered my own faith and I allowed that to give me the wings I needed to bring my dreams into a reality because when we know our truths, nothing can stop us.

                                                       Lesson #2:

What’s the point of doing anything if you live in constant fear of others judgements? Life is going to be hard and success is not a garuntee, but I refuse to waste any time not doing what I love to do. Why let anyone dictate your choices, and make you feel incapable of what you want to do. 

                                                        Lesson #3:

I have learned the power of changing your outlook. If I go into a stressful situation with a negative mindset that is focused on failure, I stop any chance of succeeding. Positivity is a deliberate choice. But it isn’t some button you press to solve all your problems. Sometimes it’s an easy thing and sometimes it’s hard. There are trials that everyone experiences on varying degrees and although joy may not fix every problem, it helps me live my best life.

                                                       Lesson #4:

I do not believe that innate talent is the only determining factor of your future capabilities because if I had stopped doing things because I wasn’t good at them, I wouldn’t be doing anything. Nothing worthwhile in this world is achieved easily. And anything worth having is achievable, but you have to work hard and genuinely try otherwise it wont happen. It is impossible not to improve with genuine hard work. Sure, I might not become the best at everything I try, but I know that growth is inevitable with practice and hard work.

                                              and finally, Lesson #5:

When I was younger, I used to isolate myself from others to avoid rejection and pain. That caused me to be filled with loneliness. But feeling lonely didn’t mean I was alone. Feelings are valid, but they are not always aligned with the truth. When I realized that, I saw my family’s constant love and support and I began to let others into my life and ever since, I have been blessed with the best family, friends, and doggos.

I would always thank my friend’s dad by saying “Thank You for your consideration.” and one day my friend’s family watched the Hunger Games and he figured out where it was from and the last time I said it to him I was about to go out for ice cream with my friend and I could hear him yelling from the kitchen, “NO NOT THE CONSIDERATION NOT THE CONSIDERATION NO!!!!” and it was just the funniest thing ever
