I always find it funny when Targ Stans UNIRONICALLY moan over “Valyrian Beauty that” or “Valyrian Blood this” - because to me when ever George mentions Valyrian blood it felt like a clear in world standard that was pushed onto the world and it’s people because of the colonizing brutalizing number 1 empire of the world that was Valyria.

This agenda is further pushed by the Targaryens who survive the doom and become the last of this once great slaving empire that essentially ruled the world and they create the doctrine of exceptionalism and push that idea of inherent Valyrian superiority on Westeros.

I feel like this is especially highlighted when Fire & Blood mentions Alysanne Targaryen being disgusted and abolishing the right of the first night rightfully so but the book goes on to say Alysanne would have been very surprised to find out the right of the first night was used on Dragonstone by her own kin more than anywhere else. - The women being exploited however believed into the propaganda and thought it was a “gift” to be chosen by those loser ass Targs.

And yet fans go on and on UNIRONICALLY about the superiority of Valyrian blood and how the blood purity of Valyria needs to be preserved - like peasants who truly believe they are gods 😭
