Typical past times of youngsters/kids in the Underseas? (ie: common schoolyard games for the various races, common toys, nursery rhymes, etc?)
Common Duergar toys tend to be playsets in which kids are encouraged to learn practical skills, simple mechanics taught through playing and Duergar children building their own toys. Buying finished toys for Duergar kids is considered odd. Song games are popular in the schoolyard, with rhymes and associated dances that are passed down from the older kids to the younger kids.
Illithid childhood is brief and their first ten years are extremely important and formative, so any activities need to be intellectually or socially stimulating and is a big part of why Illithid children are kept in a controlled environment and carefully led through development. Illithid children are given puzzles and problems to solve to be kept busy and stimulated, such as complex versions of a rubik’s cube in order to also encourage good tactile development for their tentacles. Illithid children will often challenge each other with problems and puzzles to solve together. Part of their childhood is also socializing with Drow to learn social skills, which is where the games usually come in. As part of getting their young ones used to each other, Drow and Illithid make sure they interact as children. Illithid children are a little rigid from their strict raising and need the help of Drow children to learn how to play and be imaginative.
Drow kids are kind of notorious for schoolyard fights, where “pretend” fights are common and they learn control over their bodies through fighting. These can range from innocent scuffles to full on armed fights and it is considered something children do. “Kids will be kids. Did you win though?” basically.
Gith children will very often play pretend in large groups with elaborate theatre of the mind. Someone will usually be the Empress in this game and the whole game will be her giving orders and running her empire. Some will be loyal to her and others will be opposed and some will be enemy factions. This sounds like violent war games, but is often kind and friendly as the Empress makes peace with everyone, or they will all learn magic and go on adventures in the Astral Sea. Similarly to how kids play House in our world, Empress is just the baseline for the game.
TFW things are going good, you’ve gotten a job, are setting up a bank account and have managed to stay out of the red for the week
and then you wake up and your cat has suddenly gained a clouded over eye.
Poor Cappy, what the fuck happened to you? Probably taking her to the vets monday or tuesday because unfortunately there’s just no way to do it sooner and the lady who helps us out with getting her to the vet on work days is out of town catching feral cats for shelters.
Depending on what the problem is and how much it costs, I may have to make a post looking for donations to help my poor stupid cat. She’s not even a year old yet she can’t go blind it’s not fair on her.

After doing a google image search, I must concur!
Today is the monumental day of The First Cat Puke.
Now I won’t go into detail, but I need to ramble about it due to the sheer exceptional nature of Cappy (our cat) and how she never does things in half measures.
She didn’t just make a regular puke, or a regular hairball-puke, she made a hairball ft. Human Hair. I was like ‘ok this isn’t what I expected to step in upon waking up, but where did she get people hair from to eat?’
Upon going to the tub to wash my foot, the question was answered: She had dug into the bathroom trashcan and specifically removed a clump of hair from one of our hairbrushes, taken it into the empty tub, tried to eat it, and then puked it up/on it (and the bathroom floor afterwards).
Needless to say, hairbrush hair clumps are going in the kitchen bin from now on!
