Hi! I'm a prospective smithie (who really really hopes they get accepted!) and I was wondering if there are ways that students can do their own cooking if they want. I like to bake and cook and was wondering if I could do that at Smith.

Hello! Almost all of the houses have full kitchens available to students. It’s really easy in that sense to bake and cook if you want - the only issue would be probably finding space in the fridge for your perishables (if you don’t buy yourself a mini-fridge). All of the house kitchens I have been in have a microwave, oven, and stovetop, along with stocked essentials like utensils and dishware. So if you have cooking as a hobby, it’s not too difficult.

However, if you are interested in cooking for yourself full-time (being off the dining plan), Smith has co-ops (Tenney and Hopkins) where students cook each other meals and do house grocery shopping, etc. I believe it is closed to first-years, but as an upperclassperson you have the option to do this. Hey I was wondering what copy of ham,et you used for your evidence for your bi hamlet post. I looked for the lines you used and could find them in my copy and I really want this to be cannon. Thanks!

i used my folger library edition, as well as shakespeare-online!! i think the folger editions are the best because they offer the most background information, as well as being relatively inexpensive!!

Do you ship Sirius and Remus?

I do.  I didn’t for a long, long time and then it was like a switch was flipped and BAM.  It’s unhealthy.  Their tag is here.

But I also ship blackinnon and tonks/lupin.  Not simultaneously, but like I have a “gay af” universe and a “bros af” universe in my head for them.  I like them both.  :)
