Have some Desmond doodles!
I'm not usually one for the "X character grows up, leaves home, and starts a new, better life" thing. Don't get me wrong, I theoretically love this for them, I just don't usually read or write them. But ...
... my Jason Todd obsessed mind has decided that he grows up a bit, leaves Gotham, and becomes the bread man. Because he deserves it. I am accepting no notes.
The Bread Man
December 13, 2017
Craig, a homeless man in Princeton Park today, after my bread delivery, said “You give us hope out here. You are just a normal guy.”
End of entry
Notes: August 31, 2024
In 2017 and 2018, I would stop by the Wonder Bread distribution plant in Modesto and pick up donated trays of discarded loaves of bread. I would take them out to local parks where the homeless congregated and pass them out. They called me the bread man!
I was doing dependency legal work at the time. This is when the state removes children from parents because of parent’s drug usage or creating circumstances where the children were not safe. It was depressing work. I would leave court now and then and go to nearby Princeton Park to pass out bread to the homeless. It healed the institutional violence I had endured in Dependency court. I couldn’t understand why all.the lawyers and judges involved in that court weren’t also out there passing out bread.
This crack ship is getting out of hand...they already have an alternate universe and everything
Wait, have I ever told y'all about The Bread Man?
We have this local (incredibly benevolent) cryptid called The Bread Man. He's this older, retired man who spends all of his time and energy baking breads, and then walks around town just handing out bread to people. He doesn't sell it, and he asks for nothing in return except that you have a good day. Sometimes he does talks at community events or churches, which he makes smaller, half-sized loaves for so that he can make more, and everybody in the congregation still gets one, but even still, the tote bag he usually carries with the bigger loaves is both massive and overflowing.
He experiments with all different kinds of stuff in his bread too, like obviously spices and stuff, but like one time he did lavender bread???? It was so good.
Anyways. In this house, we love and respect The Bread Man.

Could we see more of the Bread Man, he's such a great person 🌞💖👍
Heres some rough sketches of my take on the bread man (aka daddy buns lol jk). I like to think he was a soldier or guard in his early life and retired to make bread. I'm debating whether he should keep his beard after the three years of Lucio's death.
the bread man has take over my life. he’s the only one I draw in my sketchbook.
