i’m always fascinated by the constant characterization of the fates as evil beings?? like one thing i love about hadestown is that the fates are chaotic neutral. when they ask orpheus “who do you think you are?” that is a literal question. they aren’t mocking him, they know the ending already. in my opinion, the fates are completely neutral and only exist to move the world along. i like to think that although they are the ones cutting the string, it is not their choice when that cut occurs. the universe works through them as a vessel, and they merely do its bidding
