if i may. the concept of fitz being a repressed touch-me-not is so juicy to me because there is no way this man could be normal about anything. his concept of masculinity is incredibly rigid and there would have to be an irrational period of unbearable stupidity on his behalf before he would manage to remotely process the experience of attraction that he perceives as incongruous and backwards. the fool would be cautious but wouldn’t reject him because he would be too busy losing his mind that FITZ, the guy who he’s been in love with since his teen years, is showing affection in that way at all.
i think the angst potential is the most insane thing about this because fitz would be ouroboros-devouring himself internally in trying to rationalise what he’s doing in a way that fits within the parameters he’s used to, and the fool would eventually push him away, coming to the conclusion that fitz is actually somehow disgusted by him or he’s just working through something else and using the fool as some miserable coping mechanism. of course fitz doesn’t intend to hurt him and values the fool more than anything, and his refusal to open himself up like that is really a subconscious way of protecting the fool from himself. he is TERRIFIED of opening that door and reckoning with the entirety of his past and fractured self-concept because he thinks if he does something will break inside him
