Maldanár, the golden smith of Eregion
She's my first ever Tolkien related oc, which is quite impressive considering I've been obsessed with Middle-Earth ever since i can remember :))
Regardless, I still need to develop her more, the Rings of Power part (and pretty much the whole Silmarillion) is quite complex, so she's still "in progress" per se :))
For now though, here's some stuff about her✨ (and more facts in the extra slide)
Maldanár (her name comes from the combination of the quenyan word "Malda", meaning yellow, of golden colour, and "nár" meaning fire, as an element) is considered to be one of the greatest smiths in Arda. She is skilled in working with precious metals and materials but prefers the more theoretical part of smithing, and is especially fond of working with gold (as her name suggests :))).
Maldanár is an important figure in the elvish society, and often associated with Celebrimbor, as she is the smith master whom he trained under. She is one of, if not the last Ancalënossë ( the name of the kin comes from the quenyan words "Ancalë" meaning "radiant one" and "nossë", meaning "kindred", "family") left in Arda, a kin of beings similar to elves, who are fond of treasures and were known for their tall statures and magical, fire related abilities, as well as their habit of hoarding different precious objects and skill in crafting (essentially "dragon-men" , many were either slaughtered or corrupted by Melkor and turned into reptile-like beings, the actual dragons we know in the lore). Ancalënossë, although naturally skilled and born craftsmen, revered for their extensive knowledge, are greedy and hard to reason with if their sights are set upon a certain goal or object. Maldanár isn't too different, her apparently composed exterior concealing a harsh temper and an impulsive personality.
In spite of her disdain for most other elves (and beings), she is fond of Celebrimbor, and often assists him in duties, especially in the forge. Sometimes a bit cynical and judgemental, she takes a liking in making others reveal their "true" intentions or thoughts, even a simple conversation with her can turn into a mind puzzle. There is an exception to this, and Celebrimbor has the luck of knowing a different, less condescending Maldanár. Having met while Celebrimbor settled in Eregion, in the Second Age, they quickly developed a bond over crafting. Her ideas and techniques were unlike anything the Ñoldor have thought of before, and although she was reluctant to share the knowledge of her kin to an elf, his craftsmanship proved him worthy of such a collaboration.
Oddly enough, she kinda hates working with silver out of all things💀 Or crafting weapons. Maldanár can breathe fire (second slide is kinda an example of what "charging up" the fire breath looks like :)) an ability that comes quite useful in the forge (sparing the need to light the forge fire).
Like i said, i still need to sort out some things related to her and the creation of the Rings of power, as well as some character dynamics, since there's a lot to touch upon 🤧
