Re-designed The Spinner!
Tried to get him to be more inspired by a spinning top, I haven’t come up with a backstory for him yet, but I’m happy with the design.
William Adolphe Bouguereau (French, 1825-1905) The Spinner, 1873
You're "the one who spins", but what DO you spin? Records? Pizza dough? Or some secret third thing? :0
You see, I simply am the one who spins.
I spin my tail sometimes. I spin yo-yos. I spin record-breaking game stats. I spin silk sometimes when I get bored. I spin myself. Right round, baby. Right round. Like a record, baby. Right round, round, round.
Acensionism
[written as an alternative pov to this story written by @vahalia-cress, which inspired me! ]
Their time far beyond the snowy realm of Ishgard had been relatively slow paced and calm in terms of the initial goal of the long journey across the sea. While she and Vahalia had come to Tural with Castien and Wren in tow and a certain ambition at the forefront of their journey, the group had still found it in themselves to enjoy some spare time among the locals. The sights of Tuliyollal, while accompanied by an unenjoyable heat for Cordelia, were admittedly beautiful. Perhaps the architecture and the bright colors were not quite her style, but the woman could admire craftsmanship and culture.
Some yalms away from the city now, things were quieter, allowing her thoughts to wander as they traveled even closer to their prey. The two sisters had been connected from their very first meeting, despite having no inclination of their blood relation at the time, though it seemed that they continued growing closer and closer each day. Both of them here together was testament of that, regardless of a shared matter of business, the trust that grew between them had met a standard which allowed them to be comfortable undertaking such a task together.
And yet…
Cordelia sat off to the side of where their camp for the afternoon had been set, attention buried in a book as it so often was to pass the time. Travel on the roads of Tural had lived up to the warnings of the locals regarding the peril of bandits, though between the four of them, the issue had become inconsequential at best. The sound of the cascading falls breaking into the water at its basin lended a constant soothing noise to relax her as she read. Nearby, in said waters, Vahalia emerged after having gone about cleansing the remnants of their altercations with the unfortunate souls attempting to lay claim to their belongings on the road.
Briefly, their eyes met, a silent moment shared between kin. Their similarities were abound in physical likeness and personality, but Cordelia still felt a hesitation in her as she questioned whether their mutual trust was born from the shared blood in their veins or if it had all been authentic. An idle hand absently lifted from the edges of her book to toy with the ring that now hung at her chest by a silver chain. A new addition to the often similarly worn choker that the Cress sisters wore; while it seemed the twins’ had purpose, Cordelia’s was more of an ironic fashion choice.
No words were exchanged between the gap as Vahalia removed herself from the waters and went about her business and Cordelia returned to her book.
And yet…
There was a knowing, a natural feeling connected between the two. It was at that moment that she understood not only did Cordelia not hold an unyielding trust for sister, Vahalia perhaps held the same sentiment. An understanding hesitation, one that was breaking down bit by bit. Her intuition spoke to her, prophetic in nature that there was something on the horizon of the days to come. Something to push past the walls of trepidation shared at their core. Whatever it was and whenever it came to fruition, it would close the gap, solidifying their sisterhood.
