Mother's protection
The Morning After Halloween ( Inspired by the Swans)
Despite autumn's darkness, Love can redeem.
Gone are the deadly ghosts of Halloween.
Green, grinning goblins turn into flowers
And trees: thanks to Nature's profound powers.
Illusory fears vanish in the morning
Sunlight. I can hear blithe spirits calling
Me softly in the midst of a rose pink
Dawn. As a poet, I can make the link
Between hard realities and sweet dreams.
Often what's perceived is not what it seems.
Love stripped of crass sentiment can redeem,
But I'm wary of what that might reveal.
