Didn’t see that one coming.

Bex is out, too? Mixed feelings--she is a fabulous actress and seemingly fun person who deserves a better character than Zelena and I hope she finds one soon.

But this post is not really about Bex (there are other posts for that). It is about my hobbyhorse, which is that Eddy Kitsis is a spiteful little turd for his treatment of Belle and Emilie. (I don’t give Horowitz a pass either, but he isn’t the one doing nasty impressions of online Belle fans in public interviews oh my god.)

I didn’t LIKE it--as in, it enraged me--when Zelena was suddenly given in the last quarter of the season literally an hour of screentime, INCLUDING beats that came out of nowhere fighting Belle’s enemy, while Belle has less than half the screentime of any other character in an arc that is largely about her son, who was tortured because of a decision she made.

I didn’t LIKE Zelena getting all that focus--but I understood the reasoning, because I assumed that Belle was gone next season and Zee staying, and they needed to establish Zee as a character instead of having her sit at her kitchen table kvetching.

But Zelena isn’t going to stay either? (and yes, I know we don’t have confirmation that Belle is  gone, but I’m buying Matt Mitovich’s loose lips.) It was the last season for BOTH, and Zelena gets focus, screentime, reconciliation with her family and acceptance by the Heroes(tm), and what looks from a distance like a happy ending. 

And Belle is written out of her own story, and disrespected by every character on the canvas except her own family, INCLUDING the ones who led to her crappy 6A decision making. She’s treated like hired help, literally, and no one even spares her a thought when they know her EVOL husband is back to doing EVOL. And she’ll likely die, and/or lose her son, and at the VERY least lose her true love. (Probably, frankly, in a way that will enrage the portion of the audience that’s already turned on her.)

And there’s no reason to make her an afterthought in her own plotline?

No reason except spite and not being able to tell a story.

Seriously, the little twerp needs more than a muzzle. I hope he falls face down in a puddle of open sewage (which couldn’t be more filthy than his tiny fetid brain).
