what’s the fav comfort show you were referring to in one of your recent tags ? the one with 2 episodes of 90 minutes? is it a french show?

it is a french show indeed, it's named César Wagner, and you can find it under The Wagner Method on Channel 4 if you're in the UK or PBS if you're in the US.

I've seen it described on here as : "Clueless bisexual who doesnt notice he's in a polycule. Probably has OCD or autism or both. He's defo spicybrained. Hates politics and just wants justice even if that means very important people will be angy at him."

The format is very French, it's two episodes per year, and there are 13 out for now. Two more will air soon (first in Belgium in December, then in January '26 for France), and two more are in production but they're the last ones. The main actor has decided to leave the show since it's been going on for 7 years (1 pilot episode then 2 per year).

Every episode is one contained police investigation, with the recurring character of César Wagner (the spicy brained who doesn't know he's a 1/3 of a polycule); Elise, his forensic pathologist (1/3 of the polycule); his team made up of Léa, Samia and Greg; the superintendent/police chief; the judge; and finally, the guy who has no reason to be here but he keeps showing up because he's head over heels in love with César: Arthur, the occupational health doctor for the police force (last 1/3 of the polycule).

The writers are fully aware of the poly aspects of their show, if only because i made the only fan account on insta, which they followed quickly, and have seen many of my posts and stories about it and liked a lot of them ahfgkjdhg. But they also wrote them like that before any fans made any comments about it online! Arthur was only supposed to stay for an episode but his character's chemistry with César was through the roof (they were already friends after doing a long running show for years together but their characters in that one show are very different from here) so they wrote him into the next episode like literally as they were filming it. And he's stayed ever since, the writers always finding a way to weave his presence into the show.

The actors are also very aware of it and play it up when on set, or meeting up irl for other reasons. And by play it up, I mean... I have not made any RPF posts about them, no one has other than them, with the actor playing César full on calling the one playing Arthur : his boyfriend, his husband, his lover. The guy playing César is officially single, while the one playing Arthur is married and has two kids so like... It's very unlikely they have a relationship, so they're definitely playing with it. (the actress playing Elise is not online so she doesn't partake)

Also César's mother doesn't really understand the relationship he has with Elise and Arthur but she's told him she prefers Arthur:

And for her wedding, invited Arthur as César's +1 without telling him, while not inviting Elise akjfhgkjdfh

César's team have eyes and know what's going on as well:

I don't have the gifs on hand, but Arthur's dad (yeah he made it onto the show as well!) fully believes Arthur and César are together.

And Elise's dad (also made it onto the show akjhgkdjgh) believes César and Elise are together.

I can't wait to see the next two episodes and where they're gonna take us! The latest two had Elise win a bet against Arthur and she got to organize a White Party in César's mother's big house (yeah they made a bet but he's the one to lose akjshfgk), and then, the ending of the last episode has César and Arthur very sweetly organizing a karaoke night for Elise to cheer her up (it's the first gif i shared above) (and they sang Dalida's Gigi l'amoroso's song which is, partially, the inspiration for the character of César Wagner I think).

Was that a much too long answer to such a simple question? Yes, BUT I AM VERY INTENSE ABOUT THIS SHOW

ah c'est l'épisode où les deux rencontrent la mère de césar. trouple confirmed

par contre dans l'appart de césar ya plein de livres de la pléiade et c'est pas du tout son genre d'en acheter mais je pense que ce serait bien du genre de quelqu'un de sa famille de lui en offrir
