They’ve flat out said they intend for the game to end eventually, I think? Plus Yoshi P has also said after ShB the Zodiark/Hydaelyn plot wil be 80% done - It’s pretty safe to bet they’re either going to be destroyed (which may cause huge problems seeing as Hydaelyn is part of the Lifestream now? I think?) OR rejoined and the game/world ends with that - maybe we get a FFXIV part 2 or something later on
Actually destroying either of them will probably be bad news. In the absence of darkness to check Hydaelyn, she could potentially grow too strong off the abundance of reverence and prayer she already gets and eventually stagnate the planet completely by accident, sort of like a massive canister of black rose. PLEASE STOP PRAYING TO MY MOM SHE IS GETTING TOO STRONG- she even said herself that darkness and light used to exist in harmony (although her story is embellished) and ideally we’d want to end the arc with the ratio balanced. I think they’re very likely to be merged/rejoined/married as it’d address the balance issue and allow the aether of the sacrificed ancients to enter the lifestream instead of being trapped in Purple Moon Rock forever.
