Now for a comparison...

One classic movie, both possibly over shown, and over parodied is Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest. Remembered for two main scenes, Mount Rushmore, and poor old Grant running like the clappers trying to avoid an aeroplane!

However, if you actually enjoyed this old movie, and wished they turned it into a television show, well, you actually have an option!

The movie North by Northwest was released in 1959. It featured a middle aged guy running around after bad guys. In the 1950''s to the 1970's, all the older stars were still alive, still wanting to make movies. They would be given a generic role. So, a 50 to 70 year old male would have dyed hair or a wig, and be forced into a corset. His role would be of a 30 to 50 year old!

We just watched them, marveled at the stars, and wanted to become active adults like them. No teen stars then, just adult worship!

So Grant, middle aged, running around. What about another guy middle aged, running around, and chasing bad guys? Well, in 1967, the closest thing to North by Northwest the TV series was released.

It was called The Barron. It had Steve Forrest in it. If you liked the one, you probably would like the other. It was one of the first shows on repeat (or rerun) that grabbed me. I also had a crush on the female lead:
