summary: Barry has finally made it--his incredible scientific discovery has landed him a huge fortune...and a lot of problems. The only good thing that's come of it, honestly, has been his bodyguard, Lup. (And the science. That's good also.) He's just gotta stay normal about how nice it is to have someone like Lup around, and also not perish by way of press circuit, and everything will be fine.

A couple of misdemeanors are not the end of the world.” Jake, now in tears, replies, “It’s not the end of the world, but it’s still too risky for me to stay.” Hollis, resigned, slides of the car and says, “Fine. See ya around then.” The last panel shows the car driving away, leaving Jake to stand alone in the distance. End]

Candlenights gift for @bramblepatch for the @thecandlenightszone gift exchange. Okay yes, I did go a little ham, I’ll admit it. They asked for an exploration of one of the under-explored histories of the NPCs in Balance or Amnesty and I did Jake leaving the ski team. This was originally going to be one page but I couldn’t fit it on one page so... :/
