Sketch, final, and detail shots of one of the last pieces of art I made last year, “The Forgotten Goddess.” In my head, her story is that she used to be a conqueror of lands, men, and fellow gods. Eventually the numbers against her grew so many that she couldn’t withstand the attacking armies and succumbed to her wounds, forever pinned against the massive underground roots of a tree up above. She didn’t die, but over the ages her strength has slowly oozed away through purple blood and putrid smoke.
