Today is Mother’s Day, and my late baby sister’s birthday. Today I woke up knowing what I had to do. Today, I vow to never again say the words “no comment” when asked what happened to my sister and niece. Yesterday, I spoke with my sister’s abuser for the first time since 2017 when they passed away. It became clear there was no genuine regret and certainly not a changed man. The realization that “silence changes nothing,” hit me like a brick wall.
