It's a very special #WednESday down at @tgscan with this rare and beautiful 1966 #Gibson #ES355. And it plays as good as it looks to - it has been wired mono (trust me...it's much better that way! 😁) and the #Varitone has been changed to a Big D unit, but the original harness and Varitone are included. The patent no. #pickups sound great and it has been expertly refretted by renowned local luthier Mike Spicer. Funny enough, I ran into @gianni_gcp at the shop. #MustangMonday continues with a pop quiz: who can guess what year this lovely #vintage #Fender #Mustang, (spotted at @tgscan on the weekend) was made? Sorry, no hints...you'll just have to stare at the photo and use all your knowledge, ingenuity, and wit to somehow figure it out! 😁 But seriously, 1966. I think the finish is #DaphneBlue, although I believe Fender just called it "blue" for the Mustang at the time. For some reason the Mustangs of the era came in finishes called simply "red" (which I think was actually #Dakota Red), "white" (#OlympicWhite?) and "blue" in the Fender catalogue. A little pre-Stratuday Strat-ification with this gorgeous vintage 1963 Fender Stratocaster spotted at Guitar Shop (@tgscan) in Port Credit, near Toronto, Canada. This beauty is lightweight, play great and sounds fantastic. It also has had the lacquer worn off the back of the neck, so it feels silky smooth and fast. What a beauty. Sadly though, it's NFS - it is the store owner's personal guitar! Fffffffender Fffffffriday shot from earlier this week at #GS3. I'm still in love with the 1957 #Fender #DuoSonic I recently liberated from @tgscan. Definitely the funnest little #guitar I have ever owned. The neck is a soft V...as you would expect from an early one-piece maple Fender #neck, and it even has some figuring on it! On the sage advice of #TheGuitarShop's @robbcappelletto I strung it with .012s, so the strings do not feel like pasta that has been boiled for 45 minutes... They also have a really great condition 1965 #Fender #Deluxe (non-#reverb model) that would go very nice with this #guitar.
