So the assumption is that they are going to pull Leah from the island at Nora's request. But I don't think they are actually referring to her. In Ep 4 when Gretchen looks up the file on Leah she calls her subject 6, when talking about the extraction they refer to number 4 instead.

Barbara to Gretchen: "Another dispatch from our girl on the ground. She wants number 4 removed." After talking about how long it will take to get a team there due to 'phase 2' activity Gretchen says: "Leah's contained?" And once confirmed she says they will wait the 3 hrs.

My initial theory was that number 4 is Nora and they are pulling her out for her own safety, at the suggestion of their 'girl on the ground', the person who is on the phone with Nora. But Gretchen's comment at the end doesn't quite fit with that: "Tell her that we are monitoring the situation closely. Nora deserves to know that we are here for her."

So then I thought, maybe Nora is asking them to remove Rachel? "You have to come get her". She can see it falling apart now Leah knows, and wants to protect her, as is her pattern. In the flashback it is clear Rachel is the bargaining chip Gretchen uses to get Nora involved in the first place. So keeping her on side by agreeing to pull Rachel out could make sense...?

Why do writers think the finale has to come full circle to the beginning? Why do they not realise we stick with the characters we love because they GROW and CHANGE. If you can write the finale as if you only ever watched the first season then you are DOING IT WRONG.

So not sure which story is correct right now regarding the Guillermo Rojas interview, some posts are saying the reciprocation was in the English script and others that it was added by director Adrian Fogarty. The key excerpts i have seen from 2 different posts:

1. GR: The dialogue said, if I remember correctly, “me too” or something like that and then we switched it to “and I you” due to effects of lip movement, rhythm, etc.

2. GR: No, no, no, so the script, the original script we never had any indication that would tell you he was in love or that he reciprocated or that he knew, no, not at all.

Assuming from this he means that Adrian wrote in the "me to", and then it got changed to "and I you" to fit with the lip sync. It's a shame as I got excited hoping this confirmed it was in an early English script. But at least it explains the "rouge translator" thing I never bought, as so many people are involved in those decisions. If the local team collectively stood by this creative choice that makes a lot more sense than some random shipper throwing it in there.

I do still think something more must have changed for them to switch the ep title from "The Truth" to "Despair", or maybe it is more that calling it the truth puts more weight behind Cas' confession, and they wanted to reel in the gay after getting cold feet.

Just binged The Wilds on Prime and this is your warning that I will be spamming for a while. Will try to remember to tag but I suck at it!

Like a lot of people I was thinking of rewatching the show from the start after the finale. But knowing it leads to this I am not sure I can. Think I am going to reread Twist & Shout instead and let myself be sad for a bit. Then I will read lots of fluff and fan written finales instead.

I knew I would cry when they played carry on my wayward son in the finale. I just didn't think it would be due to the crushing shock and disappointment that this is the story they chose to tell.

I felt nothing when Dean died, the weirdly romantic and far too long goodbye speech. I just kept thinking they were taking too long for the setup, and how were they going to make it make sense before the end.

I don't think it really hit me what they were doing until they showed Sam with "faceless women". That they were going to ignore the narrative setup, the meta, the character arcs, everything. That we were getting the first draft ending in all it's horrific glory.

Pre-quarantine I was ready to say goodbye to the show, ready for a standard finale. But there has been such a community of hope these last few weeks in the fandom. That feeling that this show could evolve so much, break boundaries and give us something so spectacularly self aware and well thought out, that it would be a finale to remember.

While the show may have let us down, the fandom has not. This fandom is full of amazing writers, creators and artists. People who saw what the show had grown to be, even if the writers and producers refused to do so. I am still pretty shocked and sad over 15x20, but am looking forward to reading the endings we write for ourselves now.

As our country seems to be moving backwards politically to a time of hate, division and fear mongering from the far right, those just north of the border are talking about forward thinking equality, feminism and are moving to distance themselves from the decisions we are making. I know where I am moving to as soon as humanly possible!
